Races of Jade

Centaurs:
Description:A storied race of creatures, half man and half horse, are the Centaurs. Having the lower body of a horse and the torso and upper body of a human, these creatures are awe-inspiring. They have a range of hair colors, but only in the red and black spectrum. They often use natural dyes to change this. Eye colors are more variant. The age of a Centaur is relatively unknown, but it is said they live for half a millenia.

Geographically:The Centaurs are few and far between in the world of Jade, yet they are seen more often than Half-Orcs. Centaurs are seen in the Elven Forests of Ashinti on the continent of Quinron. Sharing a related love of the forests with the elves, both groups openly accept one another. In the Farwitten Badlands, on Altir, Centaurs are rare but believed to live among the mysterious grasslands.

Socially:The race of Centaurs prefer to be druids, warriors, and rangers, but they can acquire the powers of sorcery as well. As a society, the Centaurs are quite simple and live in small villages. They are intrically woven societies, that are delicate and can be rousted in mere attacks. It is why they hide themselves in forests and grasslands. Centaurs are at peace with most races upon Jade, however, they choose their enemies wisely. Their wisdom is in their lack of numbers.

Religiously:Having no real God of worship, these creatures have chosen ToriA as their Goddess. Their relation to the land and respect of nature is the reflection of ToriA. They follow the Gods of Law and Good for the purpose of the upkeep of nature.

Dwarves:
Description:Are the sturdiest group of all the races on Jade. It is said that, in life their bones are as hard as the steel they worship. Knowing this Dwarves mostly are short and stocky. They are usually no taller than four and a half feet and can be as short as three and a half feet. Weight can range from the skinniest dwarf to the fattest. Yet, the fat ones are largest in their gullet. Hair and eye color are among the most basic of shades; hair: brown, blond, black, red and eyes: blue, brown, hazel, and green. Skin colors range from slightly tan to the lightest white. Dwarves can age at three hundred fifty years, but it is rare to reach that age.

Geographically:The Dwarves are semi-regional. They commonly live on the continent of Altir in the Duraka Mountain Range. The cities of Ka Mone and Durak are their greatest feats of civilization. Yet they are split in racial distinction. The dwarves of Ka Mone are Hill Dwarves and the Dwarves of Durak are Mountain Dwarves. A third racial distinction is known of late; the Forest Dwarves near the city of Ka Mone. An ancient race of Dwarvenkind live to the far east on the continent of Quinron as well. Not much is known of this society, but they are the grass roots of the Dwarven Race. Dwarves are neighbors to each other, to Humans, and to the Gnelven societies in Southeastern Altir.

Socially:Dwarves interact with one another on a variable basis. If in a tavernlike atmosphere, the laughter can be heard for miles. If the atmosphere is of busy streets, they commonly grumble amongst one another. Overall though, the Dwarven nation has a deep emotional pride. They work extremely hard at making structure out of their cities, towns, mines, and farms. This attitude has allowed them to succeed greatly through recent years. Dwarves are wary of most races, yet, there is limited dislike for them. They get along with most races, especially Gnelves and Minotaurs and they often trade with humans. Elves are ignored, while orcs and goblins are their racial enemies.

Religiously:The Dwarves are RantoR's lot and are his Delvers of Life. Thus RantoR is their primary God and because they are his creation. Stubbornly, they accept AzurE into their nation, and they occasionaly shout MantrA's name in battle. Dwarves prefer to worship the Gods of Neutrality, because they prefer to not involve themselves in other's activities. Law they respect, but they are most often Chaotic in nature.

Elves:
Description:Elves also come in all shapes in sizes on Jade. Yet they consider themselves the elite of all the races. Having the more definitive features of pointed ears and slanted eyes, they are inclined to be from a certain lifestyle. Elves are slightly shorter and slight of build compared to humans. They have a maximum height of six feet and a minimum of four feet, while their weight can vary. Even an elf can be the most gaunt and be obese, yet it is frowned upon by their peers. Hair and eye colors are unlimited, while skin color can hit a rich tan or stay milky white. An elf can live to be one thousand years of age.

Geographically:Elves commonly live in the areas that denote their racial variance. The magical City of Ashinti, a tropical city, is the Elves' largest civilization and those within are often Forest Elves. The Bay of Quintas shares two races, the Sea Elves in the City of Quartis and the Coastal Elves that are more at home on the sand. Then, the Hill Elves at the bases of the Titas Mountains share a simple lifestyle. The Elves geographical diversity is their success. Typically, the Elves of Jade live in warmer climates or semitropical.

Socially:Elves are known as creatures of beauty and animosity. Viewing the world as a human pigsty, they are highly snooty. They dislike humans, while all other races are seen as below them. Yet, most of all they despise the Giants whom attempt to conquer their territories readily. Elves accept their old ways as best and introduction of new varying cultures is unaccepted unless involving the arts. Elves have also learned to respect their youths more as they are important in maintaining life because of the limited female sexual cycles.

Religiously:Elves choose to follow their Goddess of Beauty, MeoS. For they are her children. However, ToriA and AzurE are commonly held in high regards in their view. They often accept the Gods of Goodness and Neutrality and have a high respect for the Law Alignments. They prefer order over spontenuity.

Gnelves:
Description:Physically, Gnelves are unique to the World of Jade. They are half Gnome and half Elf. Able to grow short beards, they easily can be confused with Dwarves and Gnomes, yet they are thinner. Gnelves rarely get obese, while their height seems to be all the same at three and a half to four feet tall. Their overall bulk can get rather robust for a race so slim. Hair colors generally are a split variety, but rarely touch black unless born by a divinely presence. The same goes with eye colors, if in the red spectrum, (violets, reds, and browns), they are seen as touched by a God. A Gnelf's age can reach a height of four hundred fifty years.

Geographically:Gnelves are found generally throughout the known lands on Jade, but they are often the inexperienced of their race. More often Gnelves are found on Southeastern Altir. They have several interconnected towns deep within the forests to the south of the Hill Dwarves. Shandon and Antlere are their largest cities, each of which challenge the other for the largest libraries. Their only neighbors are the Hill Dwarves, while their common enemies are Goblins and Orcs.

Socailly:Gnelves are a happy, but serious lot. When it's time to work, they work hard, when it's time to celebrate something, they do it without pause. Quite intelligent, they are very organized and adept at the arts of nature. Rangers, Druids, Farmers, and Woodsman are their best careers. Yet, they are great thieves and enjoy a good battle. Libraries also hold a special place in their hearts. A library to a Gnelf is very much their temple. Holding stories and yore of Gnelves past, these libraries hold great stocks of diaries and journals. Each Gnelf strives to write their own book or journal, only to have them read by the many others of their race.

Religiously:Originally known as the Elven Curse, the Gnelves have deemed themselves now as the Blessed Horizon. They share relics of their ancestors, the Elves and Gnomes, but are trying to create a name for themselves. Gnelves observe the Gods of Neutrality. Yet, AnolA is their caretaker and Goddess. Her temples are most often seen throughout their society. AzurE, RantoR, ToriA, and ShivA are also favorites. Old heroes often have a place in their hearts as Gods as well.

Gnomes:
Description:Gnomes are the shortest of all the organized peoples on Jade. Being no shorter than two and a half feet and no taller than three and a half feet, Gnomes are most versatile. Their height is an advantage when near the taller races. A Gnome's weight is their pride. Gnomes, compared to their height are the fatest race on Jade. Yet, there are an elite few, which are a part of their warrior division and they are quite robust. Their hair and eye color is unlimited, but it prematurely turns grey and white at one third of their age. Gnomes can live as long as three hundred years of age, but they average two hundred.

Geographically:Gnomes are found in Southwestern Altir, on large islands. A few other Gnomes are found around the cities of the world, but they are mostly scribes and librarians. The largest Gnome cities are Mao and Turik. The size of these cities cannot compare to the cities of the other races. Only Turik has a population similar to city of Shandon, the Gnelven city. Gnomes, however, find themselves able to live in most climes, but they cannot stand the hottest climes. Thus they live in the colder areas of Jade. They generally burrow on the rolling hills of their islands. As these burrows grow too large, Gnomes will build vast basementlike structures that act as their homes.

Socially:Gnomes are wary of the outside world. Even the local humans that live on the islands are watched carefully. Although a Gnome will not give up the opportunity to work as a scribe or librarian. Their intuitiveness and intelligence goes without saying at times. Gnomes generally are quite organized and focused, especially with their projects. Most of these Gnomes are given familial jobs passed down from father to son. They are great engineers, farmers, scribes, librarians, party-organizers, star-gazers, and inventors.

Religiously:Gnomes, see GneumotiC as the only God, yet, they keep an open mind and find AzurE, MystrA, and ChevA as optimal for worship as well. Generally, Gnomes will seek out the Gods of Neutrality, but their isolation can make them rabid and quite a few turn towards the evil side. Gnomes consider their many guilds to be their temples to the Gods.

Half-Elves:
Description:Half-elves are very much like humans. Their distiction is slight though. Not as broad and bulky as humans, the Half-Elves are thinner and slightly shorter. Yet, they retain the ability to grow a beard and have the pointed ears like elves. Half-Elves, although thinner and shorter than humans are just the opposite to the elves, they are large and taller. Versatile by all means, Half-Elves have unlimited hair and eye color and live to the age twice to three times that of humans.

Geographically:The Half-Elven society focuses their attentions on Northwest Quinron. Their original gathering site was in the city of Tarkino. A city built upon the theory of rejects. Yet now they are more widespread throughout the area, especially south to the Titas Mountains.

Socially:Once considered a reject of both humans and elves, is is no longer so on Jade. In fact, Half-Elves have created their own race. The have developed their own culture and society, a haven for those rejected by normal society. Half-Elves act very much like their neighboring Elves, but are much more accepting of others. Generally open to many ideas and new styles, Half-Elves are the better and are quite successful in this view. They interact freely and are in a trade pact with the Ashinti Elves that create a living for them. The only other relationship they share is the steady patrols the Half-Elves do of the hills to keep the Giants out.

Religiously:Half-Elves have no specific God to follow. AltoN and MeoS are well respected in their eyes. Yet, they choose to be their own person and group. Chaos reins, but Law has it's place as well. They do have temples, but most have oracles that are temples to all gods.

Half-Orcs:
Description:Half-Orcs are large brutish folk. Their immense bulk and strength make them formidable foes. Their height however ranges very close to humans, while their weight and girth starts near two hundred pounds and easily exceeds this. Most are quite fit, but some of them lapse into fatness when they live with orc tribes. Half-Orcs have the ability to grow beards and have limited hair colors, unless dyed. Eye colors sit in the brown and blue spectrums. Their faces are reminiscent of their orcish parents, containing a slightly puglike nose and longer canine teeth in their lower jaw. Their skin colors are the oddest sort as they appear muttled. Average age is similar to humans, but they end up dying off around eighty years or earlier.

Geographically:Half-orcs have no real home, but they are more common on the continent of Altir. Sometimes a wandering Half-Orc is found in the foothills of the Southeastern Titas Mountains. Yet, they have no utopia to call their own because of their limited numbers and nomadic lifestyle. They are few and far between, but not all uncommon in the world. Some are quite often found in human cities or orcish tribes.

Socially:Half-Orcs make an attempt to be social with other races because they want acceptance. However, rejection is not uncommon, Dwarves and Gnelves often support this. Half-Orcs are clearly visible in any society. The nomadic Half-Orcs are mostly avoidant of the populated areas and keep a simplistic lifestyle. While their remaining fellows tend to get jobs on ships and other type labor ready careers. Most of the Half-Orcs are accepted in the cities and towns, but with wary eyes. They are generally too barbaric for the civilized nations, but they tend to be outstanding warriors and shamans. A few have taken command of the Ranger profession in the harshest of climes and are quite good at it. Their incredible sense of smell helps them out.

Religously:Gods are also uncommon to Half-Orcs. If they worship one, it generally is MongulA the immense orcish God or the God of Battle, MantrA. If they choose any other god, it is because they have been taught about the God or they found some ritual they like from observing other societies.

Humans:
Description:Humans on Jade come in all shapes and sizes. Their height averages between four and a half feet tall to six and a half. Weights vary from the very thinest to the extremely obese, while skin colors vary from shades of the darkest brown to milky white. Eye colors are all shades except for black and hair color is apparently unlimited. Humans accept just about any look and adapt to them within months. This is why they are so diverse and quickly growing. This reflects their lifespan, which can go as high as one hundred years.

Geographically:They have the two largest cities in the known world. Archon on Quinron in the east and Grand Forks on Altir in the west. They inhabit any area and land mass and are quick to learn the difficult walks of life, it provides. Whether they are from the Gobu Desert, the peaks of the Titas Crags, the coastal towns of Northeast Altir, or the barbarians of Western Altir, they consume any climate and population like wildfire.

Socially:Humans are adept at anything thrown at them. Diversity and adaptability allow them to create, adapt, and accept any type of culture introduced to them. Even their own ancient societies show them as quite successful for taking on new types of culture and society. At the same time their agressiveness is their downfall. Growing too fast has allowed their own societies to greedily conquer one another.

Religiously:Again Humans are most diversified. They follow all the Gods and create their own. Generally AltoN is their most followed God because they are his children. Yet, they worship him as an icon more than an individual God. Humans take a following to all alignments as well. Neutrality seems to be the least accepted as a social view. Life is about the battle between good and evil as they would view it. This is also true in the temples that are held in their cities.

Minotaurs:
Description:Minotaurs are very a different looking race. Yet, because of their population on Jade it's hard to not classify them as a race. They are humanoid in shape, but not in size. Their bull-like heads make them taller roughly at eight feet in height. Their bulk is much like a Half-Orc, yet a few minotaurs have been known to be short and skinny. Short fur covers most of their bodies and ranges in reds, browns, blacks, and tans. Eyes, are reflective of only browns and blacks. Hooves are the only other remainder of their apparent bullish background. A minotaur's age has been oddly known to reach a height of one hundred fifty years. Yet they average near sevety.

Geographically:The Minotaurs as a whole live in Northwest Altir. A tight pocket of mountains called the Saraks, surround a long peninsula to the north and west. From Southwest to Northeast, a chain of medium sized islands are also their claimed territory. All these regions are minotaur in nature and reflect their love of the seas. Odd for humanoids that relate to beasts of burden. The largest Minotaur city known of is the fifth largest in the known world, Hav Akra is it's name.

Socially:Although isolated are quite a powerful group. Being able to work any profession from the magics to the fighting ranks, they prove most capable. Yet, they cannot seem to claim the abilities to heal. A curse somehow has prevented this, while their refusal to use the healing arts is considered an insult to their prowess. Minotaurs as a group are proud and an honor-filled race. They work hard to accomplish their goals. However, their biggest set-back is their lack of civil diversity. They trade only with the dwarves and humans. They refuse to let others within their man city. The taverns and inns in their shipping districts are sufficient enough for those other races. The bull-like creatures are often misunderstood and feared by the world's peoples. Thus, they prefer their isolation and warmer climes. Sailing is their favorite past time.

Religiously:Minotaurs are the People of AryX. Sailing being a common nature, the minotaurs prefer to worship HydropituS and sometimes the ocean Goddess NirosiA. They also worship MantrA as one of their patrons. Nevertheless, they worship the gods of all followings, yet have only have a few temples to their main gods.
