I looked out the door of the classroom building for what seemed like hours. It was virtually hours! Day after day... week after week.... I worked a third shift at a local mill and came straight to school from work.  I had a couple of morning classes and then a long break before my afternoon class.  I was always so tired and the break seemed so long.  It seemed to go much faster when I found a quiet place and sketched whatever was in front of me.  No imagination.  No creativity. Just simple reconstruction of what I saw. All in shades of gray and black and white. Looking for the details.... the smallest details.... the sparkle.... the shine.... Friends would come by and look at my sketches on their way to class and help pass a little time but I was always left with the black and white of the paper in front of me.
