Illinois 176 is an east-west route through northeast Illinois, from Marengo to the shore of Lake Michigan near the Waukegan area.
Intersections from west to east:
IL176 begins at IL23 just north of US20 at Marengo
IL176 joins IL47 southbound
IL47 splits off and heads south
US14 by Crystal Lake
IL31 at Crystal Lake
US45 at Mundelein
IL21 in Libertyville
I-94 to/from the south*
IL176 endsIL131** at Lake Bluff.
It passes through these towns: Marengo, Crystal Lake, Island Lake, Wauconda, Mundelein, Libertyville, Lake Bluff.
*- If you want to access IL176 from I-94 coming from the north, exit at IL137 and go to:
US41 south if want to be going east or IL21 south if you want to go west. Use these roads if you want to go northbound on I-94 from IL176.
**- IL176's end in the east is also IL131's southern end. It's an awkward setup, especially when a similar setup exists a few miles away, but the north-south stretch and the east-west one share the same number (I'm talking about IL137). Why can't IL131 just be an extension of IL176?
