In Illinois, Federal Route 14 is a northwest-southeast route in northeastern Illinois. It begins at US41 in a far northern part of the City of Chicago and runs toward the northwest, hence it's designation in the Chicago area as "Northwest Highway."
Intersections from east to west (Chicago to Wisconsin):
US14 begins at US41 on the North Side of Chicago, blocks west of Lake Michigan
US14 then crosses US41 again as it heads westerly on Peterson Avenue
IL50 then crosses the highway
Immediately after, US14 crosses I-94
It then joins IL43 north
Near Morton Grove, US14 breaks off of IL43 to head west again; at the same time, IL58 comes from the east to join IL43 north, giving IL43 another consecutive multiplex

US14 passes through the following towns: Chicago, Lincolnwood, Niles, Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Inverness, Barrington, Fox River Grove, Cary, Crystal Lake, Woodstock, and Harvard.
