From Blaze

Welcome one and all to my Thanksgiving Page. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, when  families and friends gather together to celebrate, and give thanks for all the blessings they have received throughout the year.

Each year Thanksgiving is celebrated at our house here in  Massachusetts. It's the best time for a feast when the air is crisp and the leaves have fallen from the trees.

                            Giving Thanks

For the hay and the corn and the wheat that is reaped,
For the labor well done, and the barns that are heaped,
For the sun and the dew and the sweet honeycomb,
For the rose and the song and the harvest brought home
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

For the trade and the skill and the wealth in our land,
For the cunning and strength of the workingman's hand,
For the good that our artists and poets have taught,
For the friendship that hope and affection have brought
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

For the homes that with purest affection are blest,
For the season of plenty and well-deserved rest,
For our country extending from sea unto sea;
The land that is known as the "Land of the Free"
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

Usually my sister  makes the Pumpkin Pie, and my Mom makes the Apple Pie. Both are made from scratch. No store bought pies for us!  It's more convenient for me to have them make the  pies because it  gives me more time for other things. But I do make the Brownies and those too are homemade, and the first to go!!!

A tradition that has caught on in my family is, whichever family is hosting the meal, the man of the house is the one who usually says the Prayer before the meal. My husband Gary does his usual funny prayer, followed by a more proper one.  Then we all toast each other making sure everyone has clicked their glass, and the feast begins!!  Watch out for those passing buns!!!!
