  • Elizabeth hits the press!

Jon Mills, picture editor of the Western Daily Press has contacted me with a fantastic story about Elizabeth - take it away Jon:

During the last two years which I have spent as picture editor of the Western Daily Press I have heard rummors of a regular hoax caller who has plagued our newsdesk. Continually phoning in at around 8.00pm she demands we do a story about her amazing weightloss diet. Last night, for the first time, I answered one of these calls only to find out it was none other than Elizabeth from Cheddar. I listened to Nick for most of his time at Talk so knew the significance of the call immediately. I sent one of my best photographers round as soon as possible and am trying to persuade my editor to do a story on 'Elizabeth, Cult Superstar'.

This was soon followed up by Mandy Carter who writes for the Fosse Way magzine:

Elizabeth Smith from Cheddar has asked me to feature her web-site in an article I write for the Fosse Way Magazine called 'Web-site of the Week'

Interestingly, it turns out that Elizabeth is not living in Cheddar at all, but in Rodney Stoke, about five miles away in the middle of nowhere!

Hop over to the Pictures Page for the new 'fessional photographs taken by the WDP's Steve Roberts, and keep an eye on the site, magazine and paper for more news!

    Poetry shenannigans.

I have had three fantastic entries to the poetry competition. Due to work pressures and being hopeless, I've not have chance to update the site with the results, nor to post the prizes to all three winners - but this will be happening soon, unlike certain a Jibber Jabber that still hasn't reached me, Kev.

    No Nick

That's right, he's left the airwaves again. But I guess you know that already by now.

    Bother.

    Elizabeth and her boyfriends

You will be aware if you have heard our girl on the show recently that Elizabeth has two boyfriends. There is Nick, her real, radio, boyfriend (and indeed her Real Radio boyfriend). We know all about this. He has proposed to her live on air, but has unfortunately been turned down. We all feel for you Nick, especially Tim in Leeds.

The second love of Elizabeth's life is a man called Steve. We don't know much about Steve, apart from that he weighs in at 18 stone and likes to eat quiche and jacket potato with Cheddar cheese in order to stay healthy. Steve and Elizabeth are courting, and if it doesn't work out Elizabeth might get it together with Nick. At least Elizabeth will experience a happy end, whoever she picks.

Needless to say - if you have a picture of Steve, please, please, please send it in.. I think there are enough pictures of Nick on the net. We know what he looks like.

What do you think? Should Elizabeth marry Nick or Steve. Should she (does she?) indulge in pre-marital shenanigans? Let your tasteful comments be heard in the guest book.

    Love is in the air

This just in from Keith on the Nick Abbot forums:

Elizabeth has just been on air with Simon Parkin on South Wales wanting the love song "When I need you" played for Nick Abbot as she still loves him and he proposed!

A sound clip of Nick proposing may appear on this site once I dig out my sound card and cables from my cup board.

You can now see Keith, our first customer in the shop, modelling his EFC wares.

    Competition shambles

I have received NO stinking entries for this competition. You people are hopeless. The good news is I've extended the deadline until December 7th, and relaxed the rules so that more or less anything will count as an entry, provided it is e-mailed to me before the close of play. Remember that if you are one of the few who enter you have a significant chance of winning a Real Radio balloon, purely because you will have no competition in this competition!

    Call update

Elizabeth rang to tell us about a firework display and performed some fantastic freeform poetry about it. Unfortunately I had an accident with the pause button on my radio and therefore failed to record it for prosperity. If anyone has a sound clip that I could put on the site I would be most grateful.

    Jibber jabber

This is not related to Elizabeth, but I thought I'd show off about it anyway - I won a jibber jabber! Regular listeners may be interested to know that I was the "Oh no, Yoko... Ono" caller. And yes, I am ashamed about plagiarising Harry Enfield's finest comedy moment.

    Elizabeth and Ade?

Ray Murray has been busy (or if you look at it another way, hasn't been busy enough) and has provided us with the awful concept of regular callers Elizabeth from Cheddar and Ade Who Can't Get Laid somehow "getting it together", as he so nicely puts it. He's even provided a picture if you can't quite imagine it.

    Heavy verbal promotion

In the words of Nick Abbot, "it's all quite funny - I like it".

    ElizabethExclusive pictures

Thanks to Elizabeth herself, Nick Abbot and Kyle Evans from Real Radio, Gary Neal from Galaxy, the good people at the Post Office, and the scanning facilities at Virgin Megastore in Leeds, there are now exclusive pictures of Elizabeth from Cheddar on the web site!

    EfC merchandise

Forget Vesarce. Want to be at the forefront of fashion? You can now buy unofficial Elizabeth from Cheddar t-shirts, thanks to Cafe Press.

    Web site makeover and competition

To mark the special occasion that is the unveiling of Elizabeth's portrait, the web site has been redesigned. There are lots of new quality items - be sure to check out the survey results and the shop.

Let me know if you find any mistakes and I'll attempt to fix them.

We are running a special competition - you have the chance of winning a fantastic prize. The closing date is the 16th November, so don't delay in entering!

    Get well soon Elizabeth!

Elizabeth has been in hospital recently with some sort of illness. Get well soon!
