    Who is Elizabeth from Cheddar?

Elizabeth Smith lives in Cheddar and was a regular caller to the Nick Abbot show on Real Radio.

    Family

She was born in Thornton, Sommerset and has also lived in Bristol. She helped to bring up her little sister and her three younger brothers. Her eldest brother is a professional boxer who lives in Crewe which is too far away from Cheddar to send a birthday card. Elizabeth herself is 34 and her birthday is on the 7th October. For her 31st birthday she received a radio from her parents and some scent that cost £28.

Elizabeth has recently revealed that Cliff Richard is her ancestor. Apparently her great great uncle was his father, as can be seen from her family tree.

    Champion Slimmer

A few years ago she won the prestigious title of Champion Slimmer of the Year and appeared on HTV and in the local newspapers. Elizabeth used to weigh over 19 stone, but is now only 8 stone 12, and she is 5 foot 3 inches tall.

Since slimming, she no longer eats cake, not even on her birthday, although on special occasions like that she likes to treat herself to cheddar cheese, crisps, ham sandwiches and cookie chocolate biscuits. Despite this, she'd rather have an apple than a Digestive biscuit as Digestives are too old fashioned. Elizabeth obviously likes her Sunday dinner and cooks lots of vegetables.

    Special powers

Elizabeth says she has psychic powers because God tells her things in her dreams. Before her diet, in 1988, she had a dream in which she saw herself losing weight and appearing in the media. She predicted she would be on HTV news and in the papers as champion slimmer of the year, which of course came true.

Elizabeth loves the royal family and thinks it's nice that we have one in this country, but she doesn't write to the Queen because she doesn't like to put her out.

    Song

Elizabeth loves singing, which is obvious if you have ever heard her on the radio. Recently she and her brother won a singing competition.

    Elizabeth and the media

Elizabeth is clearly a big fan of radio. Her parents gave her a radio for her birthday.

She was first discovered on Talk Radio, a nationwide talk station. She was a regular caller to the Nick Abbot show which broadcast on weekday evenings. At the weekend she enjoyed calling Russell Grant to play his Trivia Trail. After 14 weeks she managed to answer a question correctly, albeit a true/false one. Unfortunately she missed out on winning a prize because somebody subsequently answered the question that she set. She did get a Talk Radio prize pack eventually, despite giving them the wrong address. She was also heard on the Tommy Boyd show talking about her garden.

After Talk Radio changed management and format, Nick Abbot was reduced to playing music on Virgin Radio, and Elizabeth experimented calling other radio stations including Radio 2 where she talked to Richard Littlejohn, and even the home of banging dance music, Galaxy 101.

Nick Abbot then had a brief period of talking on Virgin Radio on Sunday mornings. Of course Elizabeth found out and managed to ring in.

Until recently, Nick Abbot could be heard on Real Radio, broadcasting a talk show in Scotland, Wales and Yorkshire. Despite living in Cheddar, Elizabeth still managed to call.
