Nutrition

Since we can not survive on air alone, we must at some point eat to stay alive.  Here we will give you a basic lesson in food nutrition so that you can make the healthiest of choices.  Don't waste your calories on empty foods.

Also if you are not consuming your recommended amount of daily calories, make sure that you take a vitamin and calcium supplement, since you will in no way be able to get the required amount of these from food alone.  A simple multi-vitamin will suffice for most people.  If you find these make you nauseous then try individual supplements.  There are many types of calcium supplements available some are high in calories some have very few, do your research so you are not surprised after taking them.

All foods have seven basic components:

  1. Carbohydrates

  2. Proteins

  3. Fats

  4. Vitamins

  5. Minerals

  6. Fiber

  7. Water

Vitamins:

A vitamin is a small molecule that your body needs to carry out a certain reaction. Your body has no way to create vitamin molecules itself, so the vitamin molecules must come in through food that you eat. The human body is known to need at least 13 different vitamins.  Water-soluble vitamins taken in excess are excreted in the urine but are sometimes associated with toxicity. Both the B vitamins and vitamin C are also stored in the liver.

The B-complex vitamins are actually a group of eight vitamins, which include thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pyridoxine (B6), folic acid (B9), cyanocobalamin (B12), pantothenic acid and biotin. These vitamins are essential for:

bulletThe breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose (this provides energy for the body)
bulletThe breakdown of fats and proteins (which aids the normal functioning of the nervous system)
bulletMuscle tone in the stomach and intestinal tract
bulletSkin
bulletHair
bulletEyes
bulletMouth
bulletLiver
