Caring is the Wisdom of the Universe

I ran into Linda Bell at the Supermarket. She is a nurse at a nearby hospital. She was very excited. She said: "I am going to graduate from the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine soon and I have already treated my first patient."

Then she told me:

"I first met Jenny when she was only nineteen.  I was her nurse.  She had some of her intestines removed and had been through countless blood transfusions.

She was so young, beautiful, brave, and very sick.  I always chant about of my patients, but whenever I chanted, I always thought about her.

She is now twenty six and has been in and out of the hospital during much of that time.

Sometimes she would ask about the courses that I was taking at the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. When she asked if I thought Traditional Chinese Medicine would help, I told her that she would be a great candidate for this kind of treatment, but Jenny was sick of needles from all of the blood transfusions and did not want to subject herself to acupuncture needles.

About a year ago, Jenny started having extremely bad
headaches. The doctors knew that she wasn't a complainer so they took her very seriously. The only drugs that worked also knocked her out and were addictive. The only choices that Western Medicine could offer was to be incapacitated by addictive drugs or incapacitated by pain.

Finally one of her doctors asked me if I thought Traditional Chinese Medicine would ease Jenny's pain. I told him that it was worth a try, but that Jenny did not want any more needles in her. He told me that she had changed her mind and that she wanted me to treat her.

The day before I was to give her the treatment I could do nothing but chant about it.  Finally, I fell asleep. Then, I woke up at 2 AM and I knew exactly what to do so I wrote it all down so that I wouldn't forget.

After four sessions, Jenny's headaches stopped and she stopped taking pain pills all together.

Many of the doctors ask if I think that Traditional Chinese Medicine might work for their patients. I tell them that it is worth a try.

Doctors also ask how I came up with the right treatment for Jenny.  I always tell them about chanting. One of the doctors said "It is like you are calling on the wisdom of the universe for the sake of your patient."
