Mission Projects

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. I Timothy 4:12 NKJV

This summer while in Tennessee we volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank. It is a charity that reclaims non-perishable food items from grocery stores. Any items that are damaged, past best buy date, or seasonal items, but still perfectly edible are sent to the bank. Also the stores save their bannana boxes for the bank.

Once the food is at the bank, volunteers organize and paletize the boxes of food. All the food is separated into different categories such as, cereal, meat, soup, beverages, pasta, etc.

The food is separated into bananna boxes and loaded onto palets that are moved in the wearhouse. Then the food is sent to satelites around the country who distribute it. Recipients only recieve so much per month. It was a ton of fun, and pretty easy working too.

As an ongoing missioin we plan to adopt a child through Children International. It's about $20 a month and if everyone brings a $.50 offering each week we should have more than enough to support our child.
