Victoria is probably the cat that sticks in everybody's mind due to the
fact she is almost always the center or leader of the dances, and her
nearly pure white coat sticks out among the bright colors of the other
cats. (Despite what everyone thinks, Victoria is not a pure white cat.
Her ears have black tips and her sides have light golden streaks running
down them that are so hard to notice you have to look closely in order
to see them. This is more noticible in the video than the actual show.)
This queen is the one to loose her innocense during the Jellicle Ball
with either Tumblebrutus (in the Broadway
production) or Plato (in the West End production). Skimbleshanks
also takes part in the ritual, but his role in the whole ordeal is unknown.
In the Broadway production, Victoria seems to be best friends with Sillabub.
Throughout the show you can see them trying to immitate the older cats
such as Bombalurina and Demeter.
Like the other kittens, she is almost always seen crawling around on the
floor, to illustrate the fact that she is one of the kittens of the tribe.
Since she is one of the youngest, Victoria posseses an innocense that
many of the older cats have lost. She is repeatedly pulled from reaching
out to Grizabella by the elders. In the end,
it is Victoria that touches the delapidated old cat, accepting her back
into the tribe. The elders learn a valuble lesson from her and Sillabub
that night.
