FROM THE PRESIDENT
A warm welcome is extended to all members as we step into a new swimming season.
The club has already held it's AGM for the 2000-2001 year and a new committee has been elected, with some changes.
Our thanks go to the outgoing committee for their work throughout the year. We really appreciated your dedication and hard work, all of which has contributed towards making Dapto Swimming Club one of the leading Clubs in the district.
Swimmers, we hope you have enjoyed your break and are looking forward to the new challenges ahead. May you all have a very successful season. Good luck and good swimming!

ATTENTION - NSW Winter Country Qualifiers:
The Club is arranging accommodation for this carnival which is being held in Toronto NSW. Confirmation of numbers attending this meet is needed ASAP to finalise our bookings. If you intend to compete at the NSW Country Championships please contact our Club Secretary Sandra Neall on (02) 42618423.

Club Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Club Room at Dapto Pool. All are welcome to attend. We encourage you to come along and join us, it's a terrific way to become involved in your club! Next club meeting: June 5th.

Our Annual Club Presentation Night was held on March 30th. An enjoyable finale to a very successful summer swimming season! Guests included Kerrie Love representing our sponsor the ANZ Bank, Dapto Branch, and the Member for Illawarra: Marianne Saliba. Highlights of the night are available via 'club news' from our web site.

Australian Age National Championships
Anita & Ellen enjoyed the exciting atmosphere at the Australian Age National Swimming Championships in Melbourne. Although both were a little disappointed with their swimming performances they felt the experience was well worthwhile. The Championships were held at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre from the 19-23 April. Ellen especially enjoyed the "After Party Disco" which was held at the Melbourne Metro on the evening of the 23rd .
Family members also enjoyed the experience, in spite of enduring one of the wettest weeks on record! Photos available soon from the Photo Gallery on the Web Site. Highlights of the week included:
· Negotiating a complex network of trams to various venues around the City (usually in a downpour!)
· Shopping at the Queen Victoria Market, Bourke Street Mall & Warehouses
· A visit to the Old Melbourne Gaol
· Captain Cooks Cottage
· A bus trip to the Dandenongs and along the Great Ocean Road
· Night out in a Lygon Street Café (Lygon Street is famous for its ethnic restaurants - customers are recruited on the curbside to come in and eat in a particular establishment - bribery may include free bottles of wine etc) Ingrid Sernig was particularly good at negotiating conditions!
POOL SIDE

Please remember that all entries must be given to Julie before the closing dates otherwise they will not be accepted. · 13-15 July: NSW 2001 Winter Country Championships - Toronto
· 5 August: SCAT Winter Meet - Kiama Leisure Center
· 26 August: Wollongong Winter Meet - Beaton Park
· 15-16 September: NSW 2001 Winter State Age Championships - SAC

Congratulations to Ellen Wooton who collected silver in the 15yrs 50m butterfly at the All Schools Swimming Championships at Homebush May 11th.

Good Luck to all our swimmers competing at the Tuggeranong Winter Meet on the 26th & 27th of May.
COACH'S CORNER
Welcome back to all our squads. We hope you enjoyed your break and are looking forward to the coming season. A special welcome to our new squad members, we hope you will have fun and enjoy the training.

The Club would like to take this opportunity to wish Anita Sernig success and happiness in all her life pursuits. Anita is retiring from competitive swimming to continue full time study at TAFE. Anita has been an outstanding representative for Dapto Swimming Club for many years, representing our club through to Open and National Level. Anita will be sadly missed by all the squads.
