8th Australian Masters Games
Narelle Day and I will be competing at the largest Masters meet that
this country has ever seen! It is the first time the Australian Masters
Games have been held in NSW, and the first time they have been staged
outside a capital city. With 62 different sports available for an estimated
10,000 competitors.
swimming will be one of the major sports taking part, the venue being
Lawkton Pool in the heart of Newcastle. The swimming segment will run
from 11th-14th October.
Each swimmer can nominate a maximum of 5 events and age groups are at
5 year intervals (e.g. 35-39, 40-44).
We will endeavour to swim our best to prepare for next year, when we
hope to follow up with the Australian National Masters Swimming Championships
in Sydney in March 2002, and then the World Masters Swimming Championships
in Christchurch New Zealand.
