    Sarah

    Notes:
Traveled with her daughter and son in-law Monroe Larkins on the Oregon trail to Oregon in 1847 as a widow. (From Gladys Chrisman's family history).
Her place of origin, husband's identity, etc., are all open questions. Note that there was apparently a marriage between Joseph Glenn and Sarah Cummings in 9 Mar 1832 in Derby, Perry Co., Indiana [IGI A537978]. If she were the step-mother of Elizabeth V. Glenn, rather than the true mother (as currently believed), then this is a plausible record. The search goes on.

    m: Isaac D. Glenn (- 1840/1847)

    Children:

  • Elizabeth V. Glenn (17 APR 1824- 1 MAR 1868) m. Monroe Larkins ( 4 JAN 1818-10 APR 1898) on 15 APR 1841 at probably,Marshall Co.,Illinois, children: 1. Alexander D. "Hex" Larkins ( 9 AUG 1842-17 MAY 1869), 2. Louisa G. Larkins (13 SEP 1843- 5 MAR 1868), 3. Zerilda Larkins (30 JUL 1845-14 JUL 1847), 4. Alice Salome Larkins (10 AUG 1848- 5 APR 1925), 5. Isaac D. Isaac D. Glenn

    Father: John Glenn
    Mother: Jane Saline
    Death: 1840/1847 probably,Putnam Co.,Illinois
    Notes:
The Monroe Larkins diary gives I.D. Glenn as the father of Elizabeth V. (Glenn) Larkins.
1820 Census (index): Isaac B. Glen, in Southeast Orange Co., Indiana p.127.
1830 Federal Census (index): Isaac D. Glenn, in Schuyler Co., Illinois p.82.
On March 18, 1835, "Isaac D. Glenn" purchased 160 acres in Putnam Co., Illinois in two transactions for $1.25 each. These were Federal Land sales. Record Ids 302769 and 302770. The township is identified by 31N meridian 3 in the electronic Illinois land index (on the web). The first was Section 31, part W2NE, Vol. 704 page 8. The second Section 5, Vol 704, page 2. One of these transactions also involved Samuel Glenn, who purchased two 80 acre lots in Putnam Co., Illinois.
1840 Census: Isaac G. Glenn shown in Putnam Co., Illinois, p. 193.
We know, therefore that he died between 1840 and 1847.
Also in Putnam Co. Illinois land records at about the same date are purchases by Samuel Glenn (3/18/1835 -- same day!), Thomas Glenn (6/25/1835) and Nancy Glenn (6/25/1835). These are almost certainly family members -- siblings, parents, or children.

    Rachel Reed

    Father: Jeremiah Reed
    Mother: Jerusha Strawn
    Birth: 9 NOV 1796 Pennsylvania,possibly,Manheim,Berks Co.
    Death: 1 JAN 1875 probably,Clackamas Co.,Oregon
    Burial: Jackson/Larkins,Cemetery,Molalla,Clackamas Co.
    Notes:
!Census 1860: Clackamas Oregon, call no. 1860-1055, page 86, Dwelling No. 1704, family No. 1401, Raehel Larkins, age 63, f, b. Penn. Living with Henry H. Austin, 38, and Moni age 16. [hard to read my dad's transcription of last sentence]. Enumerated 21 June 1860.
Maiden name/Father's identity: In the 1850 census, a "Mary A. Larkins" age 6 is enumerated in the household of William and Rachel Larkins in Clackamas Co., Oregon. The IGI (Batch 8814683) lists a birth record: Mary M. Larkins b. 28 April 1844 in Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois to William and Rachel (Reed) Larkins. Except for the middle initial (which could easily be a difficulty reading handwriting), the match is exact, leading to the conclusion that these are the same people. Then the will of Jeremiah Reed (her father) names his namesake Jeremiah R. Larkins. Jeremiah R. Larkins R. Larkins is one of their oldest children. In Clayton Twp., Perry Co., Ohio, on records from 1819-1830, is a Jeremiah Reed, the father of Rachel.
