Father:James Larkins Birth: 19 FEB 1794 Smith Co.,Tennessee
Death: 25 JAN 1850 Clackamas Co.,Oregon
Burial: Jackson/Larkins,Cemetery,Molalla,Clackamas Co.
Notes:
Probably around 1817 (before 1818) he moved to Clayton, Perry Co., Ohio.
Perry Co. was formed in 1818 from Fairfield, Muskingum and Washington Counties.
From land surveys it looks to me that Clayton was probably part of Muskingum
County prior to 1818. I checked the Muskingham marriage records -- no marriage
record for them occurs there.
1819: Note: No Larkins appears on the 1819 Tax List for Perry Co., Ohio.
(Appears in ["Early Ohio Tax Records", compiled by Esther Weygandt Powell,
1971]).
!Census (1820): Clayton Twp., Perry Co., Ohio, p.14: "William E. Larkins",
3 males under 10, 1 male age 26-45, one female age 16-26. One person was
employed in agriculture. This census was completed by 15 Nov 1820.

240 acres of public federal land in Marshall Co., Illinois as 3 transactions.
Dec 28, 1835: William E. Larkins, of Tazewell Co., Illinois, purchased 160
acres of public federal land in Marshall Co. (then Putnam Co.) in 2
transactions. The same day and page include a similar transaction with Monroe
Larkins of Putnam Co.
Dec 9, 1836: William E. Larkins, of Putnam Co., Illinois, purchased 80 acres of
public federal land in Marhsall Co. (then Putnam Co.) The same day and place
Jeremiah R. Larkins of Putnam Co., also purchased 40 acres there.
Nov 5, 1839: William E. Larkins of Marshall Co. purchased 3 10 acre lots in

Oregon Donation Land Claim #OC1132: Rachel Larkins, widow of Wm. E. Larkins,
Clackamas Co; He was b. 1794 Tenn; Settled Claim 30 Oct 1847; m. Rachel 1816,
Somerset Pa. William E. Larkin died on claim 25 Jan 1850 leaving 10 children.
Rachel continued to reside on claim. Aff: Harrison Wright, Hugh Gordon.
The exact birthdate comes from the Ancestrial File. AF gives a death date as
25 Jan 1850 in Clackamas Co., which is contradicted by the 1850 census. The
birth year of 1794 IS confirmed by census records.
!Birthdate-Deathdate-Burial: Letter from Sharon A. Larkins, Feb 1996. She
gives county of birth as Smith Co., Tennessee, and death as 6:00 am, 25 Jan
1850 in Molalla, Clackamas Co., Or.
The Jackson/Larkins cemetery is located West on Highway 211 from the stop light
in the center of Molalla. It is located behind the LDS church. A path goes
back into the wooded area, from the left corner of the parking lot in back.
Walk about a block distance to a clarking. Sometimes it is covered with
blackberry bushes and vines. It is located on a corner of the Jackson farm
and he allowed Dibbles and larkins to be buried there. The older Larkins had
wooden markers that have been gone for years and no one had any idea where they
were buried in the clearing. The Jacksons and Dibbles had stone markers which
are badly decayed and have been vandalized. The youngest Larkins -- Mary M.
Austin and some of her family are there. They had a cement slab covering all
their graves and plaques set in the cement on top. Recently there was a wire
fence all around the slab preventing a close approach or rubbing. [Info from
Sharon A. Larkins]
It is said that his doctor advised him to go west for his health, which was his
motivation for taking the Oregon trail in 1847.

This family, as entered, is entirely a CONJECTURE.
It is a conjecture that John and Jane (Saline) Glenn of Crawford Co., Indiana
are the parents of Isaac D. Glenn (of Orange Co., Indiana & Putnam Co.,
Illinois), Samuel Glenn, Nancy Glenn, and Thomas Glenn of Putnam Co., Illinois
land records.
I make this conjecture only to provide some (likely) guidance for further
research.
Note: I also consider it quite plausible that Isaac D. Glenn's father might be
named Samuel Glenn Sr. (just keep this in mind).
