Ffej
and Joe Wagner have unveiled their new album, Return
of the Cricket Machine, which features 14 new instrumental tracks
recorded during one evening at Ffej's own Left Orbit studio in Annville,
PA. The improvised material, featuring Ffej on electronic drums and
percussion and Joe on electric guitar, was later edited and digitally tinkered
with by Ffej using Sound Forge digital editing tools. Check it out!
Ffej
has released his sophomore effort, Pure Ffej,
which features a collection of twelve songs and instrumentals written and
recorded solely by Ffej, hence the album's title. The eclectic album
features songs which explore the terrain of rock, pop, funk, electronic,
and even jazz. Later this year, Ffej will hopefully be completing the never
officially released Helping to Make the Ozone a Better Place, which
will tentatively feature original songs written and recorded between 1996
and 1999, including several from his unofficial first EP, simply titled
Planet
Ass.
Planet
Ass head honcho, Ffej, has also released the ambitious, if not self-indulgent,
Ffej's
Career Capsule: The Evolution of Ffej in a Box, a career retrospective
compiling twenty years of music and recordings. Complete with a thick-ass
booklet of ffacts, ffun and ffolklore, it's the ultimate collection for
all Ffej enthusiasts! Its companion set, Ffej's Abbreviated Career
Capsule: Highlights from the Box, is also available for those not sure
of making the giant leap into the realm of Ffej.
The
new Blather's Kite material is has been put on the
backburner. Since the group's multi-year hiatus, Ffej has been busy
with Planet Ass, Cosmic Vending
Machine (click here
for the official CVM site), all-Beatles band Number
Nine, herbie,
and a bevy of other projects; Bassist Matt Spade has been recording with
Philly-based experimental unit Piranha
Armada; and guitarist Joe Wagner had been playing and recording with
the latest incarnation of Bunker Hill in the band's hometown of Shamokin,
PA. Wagner is currently writing material and performing at open mic
nights around Shamokin.
Bassist
Matt Homiak (previously of Bunker Hill) has
a new project in the works. Hopefully we'll see some fresh new material
in the not-so-distant future. Check out Homiak's bass playing on
Bunker Hill's
LVC album.
Cosmic
Vending Machine is still trying to finish up recording Auto Vs.
Bicycle, their follow-up to 1999's Shape Shifter.
Some
of the new tracks can be previewed at their official web
site!
