Season 7

Scully is still in Africa, searching for what the symbols mean on the UFO. In the beginning, a bunch of bugs fly into her tent. The next morning a young woman named, Amina Ngebe, meets Scully. They discuss the symbols. Meanwhile, Mulder is in Washington D.C., falling deeper into his illness. He is able to right down a name for a Skinner, who came to visit him. He writes down Kritschgau(Michael Kritschgau, last seen in Redux/Redux II). Kritschgau tells Skinner he has seen cases like this and Mulder is being given the wrong medication. Meanwhile, in Africa, Scully and Amina have been taken hostage by Dr. Barnes(last seen in Biogenesis). The two women escape after Scully hits him over the head with a chair. While Amina is driving, Scully sees the vision of the African man that she has been seeing throughout the whole show. Amina tells her this is a bad sign. Scully agrees and goes back home. She goes to Skinner's office and he tells her Mulder can't communicate with anyone. Mulder is under tight watch because he and Kritschgau got caught. Scully is determined to see him. She goes and is upset to see that Skinner was correct. She tells Mulder to hang on while she searches for a treatment for his illness. Episode Name Meaning: According to science, there have already been 5 great extinctions of everything on Earth. Scully explains this in the teaser. The Sixth Extinction refers to what would would happen if the Colonists take over Earth- the extinction of mankind. Aired: 11/7/99

The second part of the season premiere takes place mostly in Mulder's mind. Still unable to communicate, his mother comes to visit him. He franticly tries to call for her but he is not successful. Scully confronts Kritchgau. He tells her that a few years ago, Mulder had been affected by a virus(referring to Tunguska/Terma). Later she sees Albert Hosteen, first introduced in The Blessing Way and she prays with him. Scully confronts Diana Fowley, first introduced in The End, about Fowley's loyalities to the Cigerarette-Smoking Man. Meanwhile, Mulder dreams of being married to Fowley and having a family. The dream ends when Scully walks in to see an old and sick Mulder. He awakes to find Scully hoovering over him and pleading with him to get up. In the end it is Fowley, whose loyalties were to the CSM but more to Mulder's life, that slides an envelope under a door, showing Scully where Mulder is. Episode Name Meaning: The second part to The Sixth Extintion. Amor Fati is Latin for 'Love of Fate.' Aired: 11/14/99
