POKÉMON RUMORS
Rumors Spread Across the Internet

People on the internet wish something will happen. They wish and want it to happen so bad, they believe that it can. Then, they begin spreading around the internet about of this certain thing they wanted. These are called rumors. Pokémon spreads some of the most rumors of anything. This is where I have come in to try and stop the madness. Here are just some of the rumors that bounce from brain to brain around the internet.

Pikablu can be captured on Red and Blue!
Pikablu is a term many people used for a long time to describe Marill. Marill is the blue mouse that appeared in Pikachu's Vacation, the short film before Mewtwo Strikes Back. There have been countless rumors on the internet listing Marill can be captured on the Red and Blue versions of Pokémon. There was once a cheat code posted at Game Sages saying you could trade for Pikablu from Bill. Marill does not appear until Pokémon Gold and Silver, and is one of the rarest Pokémon on that game.

There is a hidden city behind Indigo Plateau!
This is untrue, as well. Many people say you can find a city behind the Indigo Plateau. This isn't true. Some of the rumors was that, if you finish the Elite Four 30 times, Professor Oak gets fed up and takes you to the hidden city where Togepi, Flarichu, and other Pokémon can be found. 1.) Togepi doesn't appear until Gold and Silver (it was going to appear in Yellow, but Nintendo changed their minds, for its number is in thr 170's). 2.) Flarichu isn't a Pokémon. 3.) I have tried this and nothing happens.

Mew can be caught without Game Shark!
This rumor is half-way true and half-way untrue. Here is the part that works. Try to find a way to get the HM CUT without going aboard the S.S.Anne (trade for a Pokémon that had CUT or get CUT, then get a Game Over while on the S.S.Anne). This way, the ship won't leave. Return later in the game when you have SURF and STRENGTH. Go to the area that shows the ship, and SURF to the land to the right. A truck is there. This is the part that doesn't work. Use STRENGTH to move the truck and find Mew at Level 10 inside a Pokéball. The truck appears, but it cannot be moved.

There is an HM 06 and 07 in Red and Blue!
Many people say they know how to get two more HM's in Red and Blue, but this cannot be done. Now, HM 06 and 07 do appear in Pokémon Gold and Silver (they are something like Whirlpool Dissolve and Waterfall Climb), but not in Red and Blue. Don't let people fool you.

Pokémon Orange is being released early 2002!
This is the weakest rumor I have ever heard. There are currently no plans for a Pokémon Orange, and who would make plans for a game to be released so distant in time?

Wanna trade for some PokéGods?
This is a strange rumor. People have discovered/made certain Game Shark codes that allow you to get "PokéGods". They are simply Level 100 Pokémon with corny names and no picture, random attacks, and that's about it. People say these are special PokéGods that Nintendo put in at the last second. Some websites even list the Pokémon and list these PokéGods at the end. They are just glitches and can screw up your game if you trade for them.

MissingNo is #000 and M is #160.
These Pokémon are more glitches. MissingNo and M are the same Pokémon, but MissingNo begins at Level 80 and M begins at Level 0. These are glitches Nintendo accidentally put in Red and Blue (removed from Yellow) and can screw up your Hall of Fame, maybe even erase your saved game file. They don't appear in the PokéDex, but if you view their description, it shows TYPE Water and TYPE Bird, I believe, and has different numbers for each. These are not actually Pokémon and can mess up your game.

Kinesis is not an attack! It's a rumor!
Here's a rumor about a rumor that's not a rumor. In Yellow, it is believed that there is an attack called Kinesis, that only Kadabra can learn. Many people believe it is not an attack, yet the Official Strategy Guide lists it is. To get it, you must capture a Kadabra from the wild. That is the only way Kadabra can learn Kinesis.

I got a special Pokémon named Yoshi!
This was such a powerful rumor, even GamePro posted it in one of their issues, including a screenshot! It seemed believable enough, and Nintendo said it was (later revealed it was an April Fool's joke), but it's not. People believed there was a Mist Stone, or something, and you could evolve Dragonite into Yoshi using it. Now, I've tried and nothing happens, so don't try it either.

I found a place called the Pokémon Field.
This was a rumor that I believed, but I don't know why. It sounded so stupid. It said that you could use STRENGTH to push one of the blocks beside the water from the route leading from Cinnibar to Pallet. It said you could get to the field and find Togepi, Pikablu, Flarichu, and other rare Pokémon. Didn't work. This is a stupid rumor, but I guess I should have tested it to see if it was true or not.

Do you know of any more rumors people have had that I didn't list here? E-mail me at kangaskhan60@hotmail.com or use the Contact Me form. I will give proper credit. Please, no spamming and no fake rumors.
