Devastator

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Built around a standard Danube class runabout, the Mustang class runabout was specifically designed for the Federation Marine Corp. Most of the systems aboard are taken straight from the Danube class, although the Mustang runabout is larger and more heavily armoured. The vessel was designed to be tough, so that it could land and disembark a group of Marines in a war zone. The vessel was designed to accommodate upto twenty two Marines, plus all their equipment over a long period. Over shorter distances, upto sixty additional Marines could be seated in the runabout's cargo bay. The cargo bay can also hold a single 'Wart-Hog' scout vehicle, of which five are carried aboard the Leviathan-A Although the Mustang class was available during the Dominion war, it was rarely used, the Marine Corp preferring the smaller, more basic Hawke transport. The Devastator is the only Mustang class runabout in service aboard a Starfleet vessel. It is now more often used as a replacement for Danube class runabouts stationed at Federation border stations where the chances of conflict are greater. |
