USS Leviathan

The Type V phaser pistol is the same as that used throughout Starfleet. It has sixteen individual settings and can fire a sustained beam for upto three minutes before overheating.

The version has been in use for over ten years, with only minor modifications.

The Type III B phaser rifle is the standard weapon for a Federation Marine. The Type B rifle is almost identical to the Type A as used throughout Starfleet.

The only difference between the two are that because the Marines required a weapon with a sustained fire rate, the Type III B has a larger power pack and additional cooling around the phaser coils. These modifications give a firing rate of around one hundred and fifty shots per minute and around two thousand rounds per power pack.

The rifle and power pack have also been modified to allow fast replacement.

The Type V medium repeating phaser cannon was specifically designed to be used by the Marines.

This heavy weapon can be carried and used by a single Marine. It is most often used with it's tripod to provide suppressive fire. Although this cannon weighs nearly thirty kilos, it can, given the right Marine be fired without the tripod. The cannon is capable of firing upto two hundred times per minute and around five thousand rounds in total.

The 'S1' Sniping rifle is another weapon designed specifically for the Marines. Unusual for a modern weapon, this rifle fires a 7.62 mm projectile, which when fired travels at around Mach two. The projectiles speed, along with the silencer fitted to the end of the rifle makes this an ideal stealth weapon.

Each magazine used with the rifle contains ten projectiles and fits ahead of the trigger handle. There are a number of different types of projectile that can be used including armour-piecing, high explosive, 'dumb-dumb' and anaesthetic darts.

The rifle is also equipped with a state of the art sights with a digital zoom of 10x. The sights also have both infra-red and night-sight capabilities.

The 'Anti-Borg' cannon was specifically designed to combat the Borg. Like the S1 Sniping rifle, this is a projectile weapon. The Borg's inability to 'adapt' to projectile weapons was first discovered by Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise-E.

The cannon fires 10mm projectiles at a rate of eight rounds per second. The cannon has no magazine, instead each projectile is 'replicated' directly into the firing chamber. Each projectile has a micro-warhead which upon detonation sends a EM pulse throughout the victim.

With the threat from the Borg diminished, this weapon has fallen into disuse, although it is still kept as part of both Starfleet and Federation Marines armoury.

The isomagnetic disintergrator is used both by Starfleet and the Federation Marines. This weapon fires a sphere of anti-protons encased in an electromagnetic field. When the projectile hits a solid object or reaches it's maximum range, the field is disrupted allowing the antiprotons to be released. Each projectile has the explosive force of ten kilotonnes.

This weapon is fired from the shoulder and has a capacity of twelve rounds. Each projectile has a maximum range of two kilometres and to aid targeting at that range, the weapon has an electronic sight with a 50x digital zoom.

This small hand-held device is capable of devastating an area of three metres from the centre of the explosion.

The grenade is activated using the 'thumb' and can be set to detonate from five seconds to ten minutes after activation.

There are also versions of this device that can be produce smoke or anaesthetic gas.

This explosive charge can be set-up to produce an explosion of between one and fifty kilotonnes. This makes an ideal explosive to destroy lightly armoured targets and open such obstacles as doors.

The explosive can be set on a tamper-proof timer which can be set up to detonate upto seven days after activation.

This explosive pack is much larger than the timed device, producing an explosive yield of between twenty and two hundred kilotonnes. Detonation is achieved via a sub-space link.

The transmitter and receiver are both encoded at activation with a unique sequence. This means that the only way to deactivate this charge is with the transmitter. The transmitter has a maximum range of two light days.

Because of this packs size and explosive yield, this device is most commonly used as a demolition charge to destroy buildings and heavy armoured targets.
