The 'Rhino' heavy transport has been specially developed for the Federation Marines. It was designed to transport and deploy the vehicles used by the Marines. The forward pod can carry two 'Wart-Hog' scout vehicles, whilst the rear pod can hold a single 'Scorpion' tank. Each of these pods are detachable from the 'Rhino' allowing for quick deployment and recovery. Each of the pods can be dropped from a height of upto twenty metres and are equipped with high-density gas deployment systems to provide a safe and smooth landing. Although these pods are pressurised, they have no life-support systems installed, which means except for short distances, the vehicle crews must remain onboard until the last minute. The 'Rhino' can also carry upto forty Marines, who can be quickly deployed using the transporters, via parachute or by a quick landing. The 'Rhino' carried no weapons systems, but is heavily armoured and shielded. The 'Rhino' also has refractive shielding installed, to reduce the chances of the transports being detected by sensors. Because of it's lack of weapons, the 'Rhino' is usually escorted by a fighter wing. The Leviathan has two of these vessels aboard which are capable of carrying the two 'Scorpion' tanks and four of the 'Wart-Hog' scouts. |
