In one simple
reward: reality. "Joe
Millionaire" became the biggest series in the history of the network
(as
short lived as it may have been) and "American Idol" carried the spring
ratings. "Bernie Mack" and "Wanda At Large" got a huge pop late in the
season, and "24" made itself the must-see drama of Tuesday night. "The
Simpsons" remained strong and "Malcolm In The Middle" revived the 9pm
hour
for the network.
The Bad
Thursdays and
Fridays were a complete
disaster. Just like ABC, it can do so well on a few nights, then
complete
blow it, dragging its weekly averages down. None of the new dramas
worked,
"Boston Public" slid down the drain, and no new show worked on
Sundays.
Next Season
It'll be a
tought fall as the net
will go without "Idol." Will viewers stick around and watch "Bernie
Mack"
and "24" without "American Idol" ? Wel'll have to wait and see.
