The Wb: A Charmed Night
The WB's debut of Charmed, starring Shannen Doherty, Wednesday night set a new rating high for a debuting series on the network, a 5.2 with an 8 share (beating last week's high-water mark set by Felicity with a 4.8/8). The show held onto its lead-in audience from the season premiere of Dawson's Creek, which scored a 5.2/9. The two series allowed the WB to attract its biggest nightly audience ever and to snag fourth place for the night, ahead of Fox, which aired reruns of World's Funniest during a baseball-playoff rain delay.

Charmed Girls Confused By Shannen
Shannen Doherty's former Charmed co-stars are amazed at their one- time pal's unfriendly behaviour. Shannen was famously booted off the show when her diva-like antics became too difficult to handle, and she has not been shy about slamming Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs, who played her magical sisters. But the other two insist they had no idea Shannen bore them so much ill-will. Milano says, "It was always civil between us. That's what was so bizarre. It's just unfortunate that Shannen was so hurtful to so many people from the show." Combs adds, "We were like sisters. Sometimes sisters fight and it's too bad. When you put people together in a high-stress situation for 14 hours at a time, nine months a year, someone's going to rub somebody the wrong way."
