Character Name: Piper Halliwell
Power: Temporal stasis and pyrokenisis.
Love interest: Leo Wyatt
More about Piper:
Piper is the sweet middle sister with the power of temporal stasis and pyrokenisis. Temporal stasis is more commonly known to us as time freezing, which as its name suggests, is the ability to freeze time (something about the slowing down of molecules...). Pyrokenisis is the opposite of temporal stasis, which is the ability to speed up molecules and blow them up. This power is connected to Piper's feelings and was very tough to control initially. Piper first received the power to time freeze, which got stronger eventually to allow her to freeze selectively. Pyrokinesis came in season 3.
Piper is the peacemaker of the three sisters, and she is something like the bonding element between Phoebe and Prue, who always seem to be experiencing friction in season 1. She fell for her Whitelighter (a guardian angel for witches of the Light), Leo Wyatt, thus incurring the "unspeakable wrath" of Leo's bosses. They finally got married in season 3.
Piper, as the 2nd sister of the original Charmed Ones, will be the most powerful after Prue's death.

Actress Name: Holly Marie Combs

Birthplace: San Diego, California
About her:
Holly moved to New York at the tender age of 10. Already her stunning looks had turned heads, resulting in jobs in print ads and commercials. After a few bit parts Holly landed a lading role as Kimberly in TV drama "Picket Fences" (1992). This show ran for 4 years, winning Holly critical acclaim and a Young Actors award. After the show ended Holly starred in more roles in TV movies, enjoying her marriage and career success. This wasn't to last, in 1997 she divorced husband Bryan Smith, and yearned for more challenging roles. Then in 1998 Holly's good friend Shannen Doherty told her about a new television show based around three sisters who happen to be witches, who save the world from evil.
