General Info:
With my handmade teapots, I learned many aspects as to how one could develope a simple idea into many pieces. I think I enjoyed the concentration the most because I had so many ideas that I was never bored with it. I used mostly coil to build the basic structure of the teapots, and then I added the details and such later. The glazes I used were water soluble, and therefore, I could use thin coats of glazes to make gradients and such. The most apparent detail in my teapots is the fact that I worked with parrallel ideas. One such example would be contemporary and modern. The subjects of a goldfish and crane are ancient oriental symbols. In addition, the shapes are either traditional, with a modern decoration on it. Also, sky and water, as the crane and goldfish somewhat symbolize is another parrallel idea. |
