he first edition of Matrupanchakam was released on 25th October 1973, the auspicious day of the 56th Vardhanthi of His Holiness Shree Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswamigal, The Jagadguru Shankarcharya of Dakshinamnaya Shree Sringeri Sharada Peetham, in Bombay, with his Divine Blessings.
Nearly a decade and a half after the first release, Shree K. K. Sankaran, expressed his wish of making a second edition of Matrupanchakam to His Holiness Shree Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamigal, the presiding Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Dakshinamnaya Shree Sringeri Sharada Peetham. He also mentioned that the second edition would be smaller in size, though it contents would be almost thrice the size of the previous edition, with more notes, references etc. His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya, expressed great pleasure and blessed the forthcoming revised edition of the book.
After Nearly six months of painstaiking work, a rough copy was prepared, after extensive proof reading by the Shree K. K. Sankaran himself, the sanskrit portions by Vidwan Shree Ranganatha Sharma, a renowned Sanskrit Scholar. This sample, was submitted at the holy feet of His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya for his approval.
After a day or so, verifying the integrity and quality of the content, His Holiness blessed the publication with his Shreemukham.
Soon after, nearly one thousand copies were printed, and on the Holy GuruPoornima day of 1999, His Holiness Shree Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamigal, Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Dakshinamnaya Shree Sringeri Sharada Peetham released the book with his holy hands, along with other books after the Vyasa Pooja ceremony.
