Requirements For Entrance

No experience is required, but applicants must be at least eighteen years of age and have a genuine interest in becoming a groomer.  Prospective students must display a sincere love of animals and take part in a personal interview to determine if their expectations of the grooming industry are realistic.  A non-refundable enrollment fee of $50.00 is due upon application approval.  The application, once signed and approved by both parties, and this handbook becomes a legal and binding contract.

In the case of an experienced groomer wishing to enter the Certified Course For Professional Groomers, the applicant must fit all of the above requirements for entrance and also show proof of experience for three consecutive work years in the pet grooming industry.

School Calendar

Beginning and ending times of the courses offered are set at the time of enrollment and will be a part of the enrollment agreement.  All scheduled classes run from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.  There are two 15 minute breaks and one half hour break for lunch.  Due to the nature of grooming, there may be times when a student will exceed the 5:30 PM out time in order to complete an assignment.

Attendance Policy

Our students are expected to attend all classes.  Records are kept on file on attendance.  The length of attendance is determined by the first day of the students attending class to the last day of attended class.  Grades and performance which will become a part of the student's permanent file.  Unexcused absences will not be tolerated.  More than seven unexcused  absences will result in the student being dropped from the course.  For all unexcused absences a make up fee will be charged, payable on the day of the make up class.

Leave of Absence

The Virginia School of Pet Grooming realizes that personal situations may arise which requires a student to be absent for a prolonged period of time.  Our policy was established to accommodate individual needs.  We will review each case on an individual basis and decide on the best solution for both parties.  During this time, all payments well be suspended.  When the student returns, he will be placed in a class equivalent to his knowledge.
