Grading and Training

The student is graded on classroom performance, written exams and practical application.  Classroom performance and written exams will count for 10% or the final grade.  Practical application will count for 90% of the final grade. Students that fall below 70% will be placed on academic probation for a period of two weeks.  All effort will be made to concentrate on problem areas of each student to achieve optimum performance.  Notification of probation will be given to the student in writing.  If the student fails to bring up his grade average to a 70% or higher by the end of the probationary period, he will be terminated.  In order to graduate, a student must pass all evaluation, review sessions and he must demonstrate proficiency as a pet groomer as determined by the instructor.

Class Start and End Dates

The Virginia School of Pet Grooming feels that group classes promote undue stress, and may interfere with the productive advancement of each student.  Grooming is not a specific science and where one person may excel through one section of this course, they may be hindered by another section.  It is our experience that students learning to groom learn far better when set on their own agendas and not put in a position of competition with other students.

The Virginia School of Pet Grooming supports Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity and does not discriminate in education programs or employment in any policies, practices or procedures.
