Placement
Graduates will be offered employment at our affiliate company, Yappie Cuttery, if positions are available when the student graduates and can be employed. As a growing company, Yappie Cuttery will be expanding to other areas of Virginia and the opportunities for grooming and management positions will keep pace with that growth. Graduates will receive a list of area salons that will be looking for trained groomers as well as other facilities such as veterinary hospitals, kennels and pet shops that employ groomers.
Facility
The Virginia School of Pet Grooming is a high-tech facility. The building is large, bright and open with central heat and air. A central ventilating system changes the air in the facility 3 times per hour. This gets rid of unpleasant pet and chemical odors. Floors are vinyl throughout to allow for maximum sanitation. Ceramic wall tile lines the bathing area. Our kennels are molded fiberglass for comfort and privacy or the pet. A large fenced run is available for the very large breeds.
Each student's station has its own adjustable grooming table with front loops and a rubber surface for traction for the pet and sanitation. There are overhead outlets for each table to run clippers. Equipment can be stored at each station in the portable units which have drawers and shelves. Wall mirrors through out the store allows you to view your work from different angles. Small hand held dryers for spot drying are available to students. There are twelve kennel dryers and ten air stand dryers on the premises. The entire facility is lit by overhead recessed ceiling lights.
