I've recently taken up Tao again, eight years later. (But does it ever truly leave us?) And I have seen it in action, at work. Yes, even in the world of advertising, one can find Tao in action.
Like many newspapers, we were running Valentine's Day ads, where one could place a special message in the paper to a special someone in his or her life, and have it appear on Valentine's Day. Well, this year, we greatly surpassed last year's sales of Valentine's ads, and so our manager baked pizzas for us.
What makes this special is the fact that none of us really had to do anything. Now, I don't know about my colleagues, but I didn't push Valentine's ads on anybody. I simply waited for them to come to me. I took almost twenty Valentine's ads that way. And with about eight classified representatives, well, that adds up to an awful lot.
And so, with none of us really trying, with none of us really doing anything, we greatly exceded our sales of Valentine's ads, and that led to a wonderful pizza lunch the next day. And that was the way things worked out.
