May Full Moon Ritual

For the New Moon, many witches will often create charms, tools or other magickal objects to use in later magickal workings, which is typically for the Full Moon, but can be used at any point in time.  This month's spell is making a love charm sachet.

It is designed to help remove barriers and obstacles that might be keeping us from the experience of love.

Charm bags can be made out of silk, cotton or some other natural material.  If you like, use a color that is associated with the type of magick you are doing.  For this charm bag, white, pink or red would be appropriate.

When crafting your charm bag, remember to keep your focus on the intent of the charm.  This is what helps imbue your charm work with the energy necessary to bring manifestation, not just the herbs you place inside it.

Love Charm Sachet

Supplies Needed:

  • A pink, white or red bag or piece of cloth

  • If using cloth, a pink, gold or white ribbon to tie it with

  • The following herbs (at least four would be ideal)

  • Red buds or petals

  • Lavender

  • Rosemary

  • Carnation

  • Cinnamon (preferably in stick form)

  • Marigold (calendula)

Cast the circle:

Start by walking clockwise around the circle space, visualizing a blue/white light following your path as you walk.  Say these words or something similar:

We cast this circle to protect us from all forces that come to us harm.

Make another round walking clockwise around the circle, visualizing a white or violet light following your path.  Say these words or something similar:

We cast this circle to allow only the most perfect energies for this work, and block out all other energies.

On the final round of casting the circle, bring your arms above your head and say:

We charge this circle to create a space beyond space, a time beyond time, a temple of perfect love and perfect trust, where the highest will is sovereign.

Sweep your arms below you to complete the circle and say:

As above, so below! So mote it be!

  • Call the Quarters

    East

    "Spirits of the East, element of air,
    Dawning ecstasy pushing and coursing,
    Be with me now in the blessings of the
    Great Goddess."

    South

    "Spirits of the South, element of fire,
    Shadowy fire pit deepening and filling,
    Be with me now in the energy of the
    Great Goddess."

    West

    "Spirits of the West, element of water,
    Billowing rain clouds lowering and craning
    Be with me now in the caress of the
    Great Goddess.”

    North

    "Spirits of the North, element of earth,
    Midnight darkness, pulsing and crushing,
    Be with me now in the wisdom of the
    Great Goddess."
 

Invoke the Goddess:

  • "Great Goddess, from whom all love flows, help us in our magickal work tonight.  Welcome, and blessed be."

Sit in circle and make yourselves comfortable.  Play some soft music in the background if you like.  Each person should have a bag or piece of cloth toplace your herbs in.  Pass the herbs around the circle (each herb should be in its own bowl).  As the herbs are passed, you should say out loud why each herb is used.

  • Rose buds or petals to find or keep love.
  • Lavender to attract love.
  • Rosemary for love, lust and memory
  • Carnation to add spice to love
  • Cinnamon for passion
  • Marigold for strength, and to comfort the heart.

 

As each herb is placed in the cloth, concentrate on its gift, and how you wish to use it.  When the bags are filled, close them, or tie them with ribbon, and take a moment of silence to focus your intention and will.  Then say the spell together, repeating it three times.

"Love as a blessing
Love without harm
Love filled with sweetness
I call with this charm."

Now is also an excellent time for Cakes and Ale and to have some social time.

Release the Quarters

North

We thank and release the element of Earth. Hail and farewell!

West

We thank and release the element of Water.  Hail and farewell!

South

We thank and release the element of Fire. Hail and farewell!

East

We thank and release the element of Air. Hail and farewell!

Farewell to the Goddess

Great Goddess, help us find the love we seek, and keep the love we have.  We thank you for the love in this circle tonight, and for the love you bring us always..  Farewell, and blessed be.
