Stages of inductive thinking model

The present model on inductive thinking has been developed by Jerome Bruner. We used this model to teach a concept from physical science .
The model has been widely used to develop and clearly define concepts  especially in teaxching of science . We found that the  present model is best used for information processing .
The model  has finite stages namely

  • Syntax
  • Principles of reaction
  • Social support
  • Instructional and Nurturant effects of the model

The assumptions we made on the use of the model are :

  • There is an alternative approach to teaching
  • Method of teaching makes consequential difference in what is learnt and how it is learnt
  • Every individual reacts differences to different experiences
  • Retention is more and generalizations are easiesr when learning is done through experiences
  • Thinking is not overt but can be facilitated  by giving experiences and activities to students by the teacher ,thinking can be made  overt

TEACHING HOW TO FISH IS  BETTER THAN  GIVING  FISH  A DAY .
