The Undertaker called out owner Ric Flair. He said that JR vs. Sting for the Championship was a joke. He should be in the match. Ric Flair's response was, "He earned a title shot by going through me." Undertaker was about to "go through" Flair but the Giant stopped him. Flair said he could earn a Title shot on Smackdown! by beating...7 people tonight. It'd be European Champion Raven, 2001 King of the Ring Billy Gunn, Tag Champ Kane, members Rock, Razor Ramon, and Hardcore Champion Diesel, and Christian, just for kicks.
Lt/Cr Weight and KOTR Qualifying match: William Regal vs. Ken Shamrock
Lt/Cr Weight Champ and Tag Champ Ken Shamrock came out with his game face on. William Regal slowly walked out, eyeing Shamrock. He walked up the steps and entered the ring, then ran at Shamrock. Ken dodged and Regal went into the turnbuckle. Ken started laying out the punches, making Regal fall to the ground. Shamrock wouldn't stop. He got the ankle lock on. Regal got to the ropes, but Shamrock pulled him out. There was nothing to do but tap.
KOTR Qualifying match: Matt Hardy vs. Big Show
To make a statement, Big Show let Jeff Hardy in the match just like Kane did. But this time the Hardys had some time to get better. Big Show finally had to actually try to win the match. He did.
QOTR Elite Eight Match: Mighty Molly vs. Steph
Stephanie, as part of her reputation, cheated. She knocked the referee out and grabbed a chair. Molly stopped her with a kick. The chair slid out of the ring. Molly gave Steph a DDT. She climbed the ropes and wait for Steph to get up. When she did, Molly flew down with the Mighty Dream Catcher. However, the ref was down. Molly was reviving the ref as Steph was reviving herself. She looked frantically for the chair. She gave up, so she decided to give Molly the SDT. The ref was slow to deliver the count so Molly was able to kick out. After a while, Molly pulled out another Mighty Dream Catcher for the win.
Table Match: Giant vs. Austin
Ric Flair wanted to be in the KOTR Tournament, so he decided to put Austin in a table match with the Giant. The Giant came close to winning but Asia stopped him. Together, Asia and Austin together knocked the Giant over the rope through a table waiting on the outside. Not trying to associate himself with a shemale, Austin stunned Asia and left.
Guantlet Match: Undertaker vs. Raven/Billy Gunn/Kane/Rock/Diesel/Razor Ramon/Christian
The first to come out was Christian. Undertaker made short work for him as he got ready for 2001 KOTR Billy Gunn. Again, Billy was no match for Undertaker. Next came European Champ Raven. Raven got the advantage on Taker. He was going for the Raven Effect but Undertaker grabbed his throat and gave him a chokeslam. He pinned him and Kane came out. It was punches back and forth till Taker ducked one and gave Kane a neck breaker. When he got up he gave him a boot to the face. Then a chokeslam for the win. The came out together, although the Rock was far behind. Razor Ramon was to be the first. He got in there and started beating on Taker. Rock came in then, giving Ramon a Rock Bottom. Undertaker took the advantage and pinned Ramon for a win. Then he gave the Rock a chokeslam and a pin. Diesel was the only one left. This match was not for the Hardcore Championship, and that was a good thing for Diesel cuz he lost.
Championship Match: JR vs. Sting
JR was looking forward to this match. Sting came down laughing. He walked into the ring and started trash talking JR. Jim pushed him. Sting pushed back. JR pushed again and again. When Sting was in the corner, JR started punching him. JR was actually taking the match. Eventually, Sting reversed an Irish Whip and gave JR a boot. Then the 's music hit. Out walked Hollywood Hulk Hogan. He walked into the ring. Both men were getting up. It seemed like Hogan was on the fence about who he'd hit. He went for Sting. The match was over and JR was awarded the victory but not the Championship. Sting rolled out of the ring and grabbed his old bat. He went in and started beating JR and Hogan.
Raw started off with Stone Cold Steve Austin calling out owner Ric Flair. Flair came out with his bodyguard the Giant. He said that Austin's talent wasn't need. Stone Cold seemed to think otherwise. Flair came up with an idea. Seeing as how he won the Billiards Tournament last year, he challenged Stone Cold to a game of 8-ball. If Stone Cold won, he would start wrestling again. But he'd have to face 4 members of the , Diesel, Razor Ramon, the Rock, and the Big Show, on Smackdown! If Stone Cold lost, he'd wouldn't fight for the 5 years left in his contract. Austin agreed.
members Diesel and Razor Ramon came out to the ring. They called out fellow members Rock and Big Show. Rocky and Show came out. Razor said "What the hell is the matter with you Show? You tried to take away an member's Championship. That's a no-no. And Rocky, you gave me a Rock Bottom when I was helping our friend Diesel." Then the 's music hit again as Champion and leader Sting came out. Sting settled this by proposing a match at the Independance Day Special - Razor Ramon and Diesel vs. the Rock and the Big Show. The losers leave the , just like Sting's match. All 4 members agreed.
QOTR Qualifying Match: Chyna vs. Jackie
Mighty Molly came out to ringside and commintated during the match. As Chyna and Jackie were fighting, Asia came out. She entered the ring. That's when Molly struck. She took out Asia to make the match fair. Chyna ended up with the victory.
Test inturrupted Jericho in the hall. He said "Hey Jericho. Now that your wife is focused on the Queen of the Ring tournament, I think we can get down to business." "Are you asking me out?" "No, I want your Intercontinental Title. Independance Day Special." "Ok."
KOTR Qualifying Match: Rock vs. Raven
The Big Show was no where to be seen around this match. The Rock was handling the match, but he took too much time going for the Rock Bottom. Raven reversed it into the Raven Effect. He picked up the win.
KOTR Qualifying Match: Triple H vs. Tazz
Tazz came out waiting for the injured Triple H. Hunter still came out with a crutch. He entered the ring and took a mic. He was about to say something when he whacked Tazz in the face with his crutch. He did half a pedigree (because of his injured knee from SD!) and took the match.
Game of 8-Ball: Austin vs. Flair
Flair allowed Austin to break. He got the 9 ball in. Then he hit in the 12. He missed his next shot. Flair got in the 4 and 1 balls. He went for the 2, and barely got it in. When he went for the 5, he didn't hit it hard enough. Austin then got in the 14 and 15 balls. He went for the 10 and missed. Flair got in the 6 and 7, then knocked the 5 in. He missed the 3. Austin finished the 10. He went for the 11 and knocked in the 13. He missed the 11. Flair knocked in the 3. He called 8-ball side pocket but over shot it. Austin got the 11 in. It was down to the 8-ball. Austin called off the wall into side pocket. He missed it. He looked over at the Giant and stuck is tongue out. As Flair called corner pocket, the Giant shoved Austin into the table, causing Flair to miss his shot. Austin then called corner pocket and got it in. Austin won and Flair sent the Giant to the locker rooms. With the Giant out of the way, Austin stunned Flair.
Championship Match: Stind vs. Undertaker vs. JR
The Undertaker went for a quick pin on JR before Sting came out, but Sting ran to the ring and broke the count. Sting started fighting Taker and knocked him out of the ring. When he turned around JR was there, ready to strike. JR fought a good fight. He gave Sting a big Oklahoma boot in the face and knocked him out. He went for the pin but Taker got back in and chokeslammed JR. He went for the pin but Sting pulled him off. He gave Taker a tombstone, then gave JR a tombstone and pinned JR for the win.
Last week
After Judgement Day 2002 to now:
Sting, Dead Man, Razor Ramon, and the Giant have advanced to the King of the Ring Tournament. Sting vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan for the Championship and the loser leaves the was set up for the Independance Day Special. Matches for tonight were Sting vs. Hogan in a strong man contest; Christian vs. Test KOTR tournament; Kane vs. Jeff Hardy KOTR tournament.
Tonight, the Undertaker is upset because he lost the Championship match last Smackdown! from the interference of Hogan. He charged into Ric Flair's office demanding another match. "But Sting is in the strong man contest. He can't do that and defend his title." The Undertaker persisted. "Fine then," Flair said, "you and me tonight."
Intercontinental Championship Match: Razor Ramon defends against Jericho
The enforcer, Big Show, was waiting outside the ring with a table, just in case Ramon lost (the rule was every match was must win). Ramon was intimidated the entire match, so he didn't preform as good. Jericho ended the match with the Lionsault and the pin and the ntercontinental Championship. The Big Show entered the ring and started beating on Ramon. Hogan soon came out, still mad at the Big Show because Hogan lost a match on Smackdown! He fought for Ramon, and Big Show ended up going through the table.
Christian is in the back, talking with William Regal. "Man, I was ready to fight Test on Smackdown!, not the Rock. Why did he have to go get himself suspended? I lost to the Rock! The Rock! Me, a former and WCW Champion, lost to the Rock. Test won't stand a chance. I'm winning this tournament so I can secure myself the Championship." It was true, Test was suspended by Stephanie McMahon at No Way Out until the start of the King of the Ring Tournament. He broke the suspension by showing up at Judgement Day to help Richards defend the I.C. Title succesfully against Jericho. He kissed Jericho's wife, Chyna. So, Ric Flair suspended him for an extra week. He was supposed to fight in the tournament on Smackdown! against Christian, but the match was postponed to tonight.
King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Test vs. Christian
William Regal was forced away from ringside for the match. Christian was dominating the match until Test got a boot in. That's when the tables turned, so the new I.C. Champion came out and hit Test with the belt. Christian advanced.
Shamrock was talking to his tag partner and the other Tag Team Champion, Kane. "Man, isn't this cool? You have to face Jeff Hardy, one of the men we destroyed in the cage match at Judgement Day. What are the odds of that? This is an easy win for you. But, you'll have to face the Giant at the Independance Day Special." Kurt Angle walked by. "Make way! Moooove!" Shamrock stopped him. "Excuse me, what are you doing?" "I am the Cruiser/Lightheavyweight Champ. Mooooove." "I am 1/2 of the Tag Champs." "Need a partner, eh?" They started fighting.
King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Kane vs. Jeff Hardy
Matt Hardy came out with Jeff, and Kane told the ref to let Matt in. So now it was a handicap match, the Hardys vs. Kane. No matter, Kane took the match in five minutes.
Cr./Lt. Weight Championship Match: Kurt Angle defends against Ken Shamrock
Shamrock proved to Angle that he didn't need a partner to win a Championship.
Singles Match: Undertaker vs. Ric Flair
Flair came out with his bodyguard, the Giant. The Undertaker didn't care though. The match started. Soon, Undertaker gave Flair a big Chokeslam, and then the Giant came in. Taker started fighting him, and gave him a big boot to knock him out of the ring. When he turned around, Ric Flair gave him the Red Flair to win the match.
Strong Man Contest: Sting vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan
The way this worked out was this: in the 1st round, the winner is whomever could body slam the Giant the most in a row. 2nd round, the most powerbombs. 3rd round, the most moves that can knock him off his feet. The Undertaker came out at the beginning, announcing he's in the contest. Triple H came out and said the same. In the first round, Sting got 6, Taker got 5 (after Sting wouldn't allow him to get six), Hogan got 4, Triple H got 3. In the second round, Hogan got 8, Taker got 4, Sting got 1, HHH got 0. In the third round, Hogan and Taker went head-to-head. Taker ended up winning when Hogan's right hand wouldn't knock the Giant down. But Hogan got the last hit, after he knocked out Taker with a boot, leg drop, then the Director's Splash.
Raw ends.
