Lance StormTHE CANADIAN SUPERMAN LANCE STORM
Intercontinental Champion
Mar. 15, 2006 - Apr. 12, 2006

Month after month passed by in the PWF, and the one constant was that Mr. Perfect was the Intercontinental Champion. Eventually, Perfect became the PWF Champion. Mr. Bischoff, on the next edition of Wargames, vacated the Intercontinental title, announcing that it would be put up for grabs in a tournament to begin that very evening. In opening round matches, Shane Douglas defeated The Undertaker, Lance Storm defeated Shawn Michaels, Mike Flynn defeated Mike Sanders, and Stevie Richards went to a draw with Riptide. As a result, Douglas got an automatic bye to the final round, scheduled to take place at Apocalypse. In a heated contest, Storm got past Flynn with a little bit of an assist from a well-known hater of the New Breed, Excellence.

The Franchise and the Canadian Superman immediately began to trade verbal barbs, with each man seemingly very, very confident heading into their encounter at Apocalypse. Storm drew first blood when he and Steve Austin defeated Douglas and Eddie Guerrero in a tag team match prior to the event, but Douglas blew off the importance of that match, as it was Guerrero who was pinned, not him. Thus, both men felt that momentum was on their side, and the match itself was quite intense. Douglas utilized an Indian Deathlock on multiple occasions, trying to force a submission, but the Canadian Superman was unwilling to give in. After escaping, he was a house afire, even catching The Franchise with his Superkick, but to no avail. Douglas set his plan into action, having Francine distract the referee while he intended to nail Storm with a steel chair. However, Storm was able to get Douglas in a surprise rollup for the pin and title. Douglas was quick to point out that the issue between them was not over, but at Apocalypse, we saw the first new Intercontinental Champion crowned since last April.
