The NOWF World Championship was, at one time, the most coveted title in all of professional wrestling. From 1997 to 2001, the NOWF World Champion represented the very best the sport had to offer. In its earlier days, the OWF and NOWF were known to put on four or five shows in a row without a day off, meaning that while some of their champions' reigns may have been shorter than those from other promotions, they were no less action-packed or meaningful. From NOWF legend Taz to current PWF superstars Mr. Perfect, Excellence, and Chris Jericho, some of wrestling's greatest all-time performers have held this historic crown. The NOWF, originally known as the OWF, may have closed down in 2001, but its impact on wrestling and its World Championship's importance will never be forgotten.
