When James Ace took control of the SCW, the very first thing he did was fire his long-time rival Excellence. The self-proclaimed Franchise Player, though, did not let this keep him from competing, as he returned to the SCW as the masked Prophet, eventually goading James Ace into accepting a match with his "mentor," Excellence. The two battled to a draw, and in a show of respect afterwards, Ace re-signed Excellence to the SCW and granted him a title shot that very evening against Chris Benoit. The two battled back and forth, with both men unable to end the contest with their signature moves. Finally, Excellence nailed Benoit with a Perfectbuster off the top rope, which was enough to put him away. At the conclusion of the match, Mr. Perfect returned to the SCW and attacked Benoit, leaving fans wondering what the future of the Perfect Team would be.
