Not Quite Christopher Walken:
a sneak-peek feel-good glimpse into the nature of fallen angelics
by HOPE's own basement-dwelling angelic hyphenator,
Morose
Normally, I'm left here in my basement cell with felt-tip pens, a wireless
keyboard, and some tracing paper to doodle on (yeah, it's a Thomas Harris reference -
what do you expect with the movie based on one of the neatest books of the 20th
century less than a week away?), and given ample time and creative freedom to
come up with humorous, insightful, educational, or just downright insane rants
for the main site. this is good. ranters aren't always the most pleasant of
people to be around for any length of time, and often need a bit of privacy to
cough up something nasty and prophetic for the rest of the world to stare at.
Sometimes, though, they come down here and ask me to write about something
specific. As you've probably noticed by now, ranters are a strange breed and
can't always be sure what their latest creations will wind up being about, but
i have been properly placated with offerings of donuts and Christopher Walken
videos into ranting on something specific, something personal, soemthing i have
decades of experience with: being a fallen angelic.
So what is an angelic, opposed to an angel? good question. the topic has come
up for discussion countless times on various mailing lists, and, from what i can
tell, angels are often non-corporeal, and even when they do have bodies, they retain
more of their energy-manipulation abilities. angelics, in my experience, tend to
be more corporeal, more accustomed to human bodies (yes, angelics are angels in
human bodies), and aren't as pulled/drawn/influenced/whatever by the Deity. i've
never seen the Deity be named specifically, nor is it necessarily analogous to the
judeo-christian YHWH, but there are some similarities, and i've seen it suggested that
YHWH is but one interpretation of this Deity.
so, have you ever... er... wink wink nudge nudge...? OH COME ON! what does
that have to do with anything? as if i'd tell you about angelic mating habits anyway.
some angels/angelics consider themselves genderless. others feel hermaphroditic.
it varies, really, from individual to individual. no, you won't see us doing anything
on "wild kingdom" or those late night shows on HBO.
How did you fall? ah, finally, a real question. very quickly.
Did it hurt? just the sudden stop at the end.
Why did you fall? That's a long story. different angels fall for different
reasons. some leave of their own volition because they dont like the way things
in Heaven (standard human term for it. i just refer to it as "there") are being run.
others, myself included, are forced out. there have been, in my memories, a lot of
rebellions, and things there are usually run by a very my-way-or-the-highway sort of
ruler, so anyone who doesnt like it is sent elsewhere, usually earth.
Are fallen angels/angelics in league with typical forces of evil, such as satan,
lucifer, leviathan, etc? No. concepts such as "good" and "evil" are very subjective,
and vary greatly from one belief sytem to another. angelics, notably fallen angelics,
who are free to choose and act on a belief system of their own, are not really subject
to judeo-christian standards of right and wrong unless they choose to affiliate themselves
with a judeo-christian organization. Many i have encountered have a slight interest in
Discordianism, and many have read a bit of Aleister Crowley's stuff, but overall, the
religious and moral standpoints of angelics can't be generalized.
Are fallen angels prone to being evil independently? OH COME ON! look at my
previous answer. it depends on your standards of "evil".
Are you devils/demons? do you possess people? to the first one, no. "devil"
is a popular term for anything supposedly opposed to judeo-christian beliefs, and
many angelics are indifferent towards such belief systems. as for possessing people,
it depends on your definition of posession. since we are in human bodies, you could
say we were possessing people, but what if we've been the sole inhabitants of these
bodies since birth or even before birth? are we still "stealing" the body, or are we
the rightful owners? i feel rather attached to mine, as i've been in it for a while,
and havent met any others with claims on it, unless voluntary sharing counts.
Do all angelics wear black trenchcoats? what's with the trenchcoat thing, anyway?
i dunno what all angelics wear. i dont go oking through their closets and drawers at
all hours, but yeah, long coats are rather popular. First off, because they look
neato. secondly, they come in handy for dealing with rain, cold, and other
weather conditions. lastly, a lot of us are accustomed to having somthing long and
flappy hanging from our backs, and while many of us retain our wings in a noncorporeal
form, it's good to feal something solid hanging and flapping about, so we wear
flappy coats. i personally have two, one for summer and one for winter.
So how do most angelics feel about movies depicting angels? it depends on the
movie. "city of angels" is generally seen as horrid, but the "Prophecy" movies (yes,
there's three of em) are viewed as startlingly accurate social satire. Christopher
Walken is unquetioningly worshipped, and yes, we really do have serious cravings for
sugar.
What do you think of Goetic/enochiam magick? OH COME ON! a lot of that stuff
was devised by hallucinating clergymen centuries ago, so one can't expect it to
be very accurate. blasting rods and tablets with archaic alphabets dont impress me,
but buy me a good donut or a cup of coffee, and i'll be willing to consider what
you want me to do. no guarantee i'll do it, of course, as many fallen angelics
have problems with people giving them orders.
Morose, when not trying to
escape his basement cell to steal your toilet paper, likes to watch Christopher
Walken movies and heckle "Touched by an Angel" while listening to This Mortal Coil
albums played very loudly.
