Asking
for Explanations and USDA Reports
Did you know that all elected officials work for US? Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretaries, Mayors, Governors, Senators, Congressmen and House Representatives were all elected into office because we voted for them. We also pay their salary by being tax-payers.
Asking
for explanations in discrepancies in USDA reports can be an effective way to
urge the USDA to take more action. It is also a little more bothersome for them to have to explain why the USDA has taken or not taken action on a certain finding. It is also more bothersome for them to have to copy reports and send them out to individuals. Because they, in essence, work for us, it is not unreasonable to ask them to work a little harder for us and for the animals.
In fact, it seems the USDA hasn't been working that hard for us or these animals for a while. The
Animal Legal Defense Fund is suing the USDA for not taking action on federal legislation imposed 20 years ago, on standards regarding chimpanzees. Please tell them in your letters that you are aware of this and feel that they need to work harder to protect these tortured animals. It's time for them to stop slacking.
Question
any discrepancies in their reports compared with USDA guidelines and
federal law. See
sample letters that demonstrate how to
effectively question why more action was not taken on certain findings.
Always
be sure and ask the USDA to see copies of their reports. Any law
enforcement reports are public record and must be made available for the
public to view.
