I am a fifth year student at University of California, Davis with one quarter left in the fall. I am an Evolution and Ecology major in the college of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Division of Biological Sciences. Evolution and Ecology is the study of the diversity and distribution of living organisms. I chose this major not only because I am interested in the subject matter, but also because it allows me to pursue several professions such as research, teaching, and environmental management. I really don't know what I would like to do after college but the above three do interest me. If you absolutely love what you are majoring or working in, I take reccomendations.
I am thinking about becoming a high school science teacher and being a dive instructor on the side, but my dream of becoming a marine biologist keeps getting in the way. So why don't I just become a marine biologist you say? To be completely honest, I know what I want out of marine biology, but I don't think that is what I will get. I would love to work at an aquarium, or something along those lines, but only a small percentage of marine biologists get to do that. Unfortunately, there are few positions available for graduates with a marine biology degree and even fewer get to work in aquariums.
But enough depressing realities. Davis is an awesome school. College is odd, but life is too so nevermind. I have learned so many things, but I think the most important thing I have learned so far is about stress. I am the biggest worrier...definitely a trait inherited from my parents...and worrying leads to stress. I realized early on in college that almost nothing is worth stressing over, including things that aren't going to matter in the future, like midterms and papers. Of course, these things are important...for the time being, but it isn't going to matter in 10 years that I got a horrible grade on my Biochemistry midterm(s). :o) Everyone sucks at something right? Besides, few people excel at biochemistry! Anyway, my point is that as long as I am trying my best now, everything always works out for the future and stressing isn't going to make anything better.

Here are a couple more facts about me:
Hobbies - I have so many hobbies and it is so hard to find the time and/or money for many of them. I like to scuba dive, hike, rock climb, camp, rollerblade, mountain bike, ski, listen to music, go to concerts, play guitar, drive, travel, sleep, hang out with friends, and play sports (tennis, football, and soccer mostly). I have been on two IM football teams, and two IM soccer teams. We weren't very good at football, but somehow we ended up winning the championships our first year. Last year, our soccer team kicked ass with a record of 6-1, winning us the championships. So if you are ever at UCD, check out our pictures on the Rec Hall walls!
Survey - I have filled out at least 10 of these in my life, and I guess my answers are constantly changing, but here is the most recent survey about me. It is probably the most easiest way to really describe myself.
