Tinambac Bags Top Prize in Float
Competition
Tinambac, Cam. Sur. Under the leadership
of Mayor Itoy Velarde, Tinambac won big as it topped the province's float
competition during the recently concluded 420th
Foundation Day Anniversary of Camarines Sur. The grand parade was held
in Naga City on May 27, 1999.
The town's entry, a giant-sized
snapper (pugapo) carried by eight men in indigenous attire, grabbed the
top prize worth P75,000 pesos, with Bula winning 2nd Place worth
P50,000 pesos. Bombon placed 3rd and was awarded P25,000 pesos.
The float competition was participated
in by all 32 municipalities of Camarines Sur, with the exception of Magarao
who failed to compete in this category.
The “fish” was reportedly made in
Barangay Tamban out of locally assembled materials costing about
P2,000 pesos.
Competition results for the
other categories are as follows:
Street Dancing: First prize was won by the Municipality
of Baao and was worth P50,000 pesos; 2nd Prize went to Nabua with P30,000
pesos. Bicol Adaptation Song Contest: 1st Place was “Magtubod Ka”
by Ruben Berana of Baao worth P8,000 pesos; 2nd Prize was “Anong Pagkamoot”
by Sylvia Paraiso of Nabua worth P5,000 pesos; 3rd Prize went to Jun Barcela
of Pamplona with his “Namomotan” and was awarded P4,000 pesos.
