December 25, 2004 - Saturday - Merry Christmas

Warm with rain. Didn't go out actually!

A great day. Fumihiko and I slept in very, very late! It was just before 12 when we got up. Our room was lovely and dark, and we stayed up very late last night so we were tired. I gave him the option of eating breakfast first or opening presents. We chose to eat first, so I made him some French toast and me some special low carb pancakes. Yum. Nice brekkie.

We did very well on the presents side too. I got a microwave oven with an oven in it too. Because of the small spaces here in Japan, they often combine appliances. I also got some dvds including Shrek 2 and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The biggest dvd though was the Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Rings Special edition. I got some great presents from Canada too. My friend sent me lots of low carb goodies and some warm undies. Vanessa sent me a videotape with strict instructions to watch it today. I also got some t-shirts and a kind of multi-tool. Oh, and some Tim Horton's coffee that was very much appreciated by us both.

Fumihiko and I sat down with our TH coffee and watched the video. What a surprise! Van had had some of our Mum's movies put on video. There were movies of us as children running on the beach in Africa, in Canada at a zoo, and with relatives in Britain. I did a lot of dancing too! It was so cool.

In the afternoon Fumihiko went out to visit his Mum and to pick up the chicken. I prepared a Greek Salad. I'd never made it before so I was a bit nervous. I prepped all the stuff and waited for him to come home. When he did, he was empty handed! The shop where we had ordered our chicken had sold it to someone else, and it was their last one! Argh. But, all was not lost, they promised to deliver one from Atsumi Onsen. It would arrive around 7 pm! Suprisingly, it really did. The guy brought it to us and also gave us some special meat as a "sorry" gift.

I threw the ingredients for the salad together and Fumihiko heated up the chicken in the microwave and then we had dinner. We drank some wine and had a really lovely dinner. It was very simple, but really good. The salad was great, and so was the chicken.

After dinner we did a bit of packing and then watched The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring. It was great with all the extra scenes. I really thought it was much better.

Now it is 2 am and I should go to bed fairly soon. Tomorrow we'll fly to Tokyo and on Monday we'll fly to Hong Kong. Don't miss me too much. I should be back on January first, hopefully full of news and with a few pictures.

Gotta go! Night night....oh, and Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays...whichever you prefer.
