Sunny day mostly, with a bit of rain.
A very interesting day. Fumihiko got up early this morning to leave for Thailand. He refused my offer of a hot breakfast, but made his own. He did make me some coffee though. Yay.
He left amidst much kissing and hugging. I really don't think he wanted to go! I went back to bed for a while and then my alarm went off at 8. I didn't get up until 8:15. I got dressed and then left the apartment. I went to get Fumihiko's bike, the one that he's lending me when he's away. I undid my lock and made to move it. Then I noticed something else. His lock. He'd put his own lock back on the bike, and didn't leave me the key. I was a bit put out, plus I had to grab my own old bike key. I rode my old bike to the school and parked it. It was lucky that I wasn't running late for a change.
I bought my ticket and then remembered that I hadn't gone to the bank yet. I ran off, did that, and got on the train. It was late, which is a little unusual for Japan. I read a book on the train, an old one that I borrowed from the international center, then took a nap. I also tried an Atkins Breakfast bar. I was pleasantly surprised, it was good! I really enjoyed it.
When I got to Niigata I did something a little different. I went out the back of the building. There were some shops that I went to once before and I wanted to go there again. The shops I remembered were gone. The building was closed. I did go to a different place that was still open and picked up a few things, nothing special.
I went back to the front of the station and had lunch in Royal Host. It was quite nice, then I went shopping. I visited Daiei, didn't buy anything. I went to Isetan and bought some Christmas tree decorations, then walked over to Billboard Place. I did a lot of shopping there. I got a bunch of cds from Virgin, some tea from the tea shop, had a later lunch at Freshness Burger and then headed to Kinokuniya books. I got a lot of magazines and a few books. I got a few things for Christmas too. Presents and things for school, yay me!
I was pretty tired by this time, so I went to one more store and then headed back to the train station. I got there and I had just missed an earlier train than the one I planned to take. I did a bit of wandering around the station, and found something to eat for dinner on the train.
I was just putting some of my stuff into my backpack at the station when Fumihiko called me. He wanted to say goodbye one more time. I told him about the bike key and he laughed. He wasn't sure where then spare key was, but he gave me his best guess. We talked for a while and then he had to get on his plane.
I went through the barrier and waited for my train. I got a seat to myself again, except for the first part of the ride, but at the first station the man got off the train, so I had my own seat again. The train wasn't very busy. Good for me.
Back in Tsuruoka I pedaled home, then checked out Fumihiko's guess about his spare key. He was right, thank goodness! Just in case though I pumped up the tires on my old bike. I debated going out to get a movie, but decided not to. Good thing!
My heater worked for a bit, and then stopped. I started it again, but it kept stopping. I unplugged it and even took it apart and cleaned it, but it wouldn't work. I took the back off and cleaned that too. No dice. So, I had to get the heater from our room in the house and plug that one in. It's working fine. Yay. I'm now getting warmer.
I listened to one of my new cds already, Barenaked for the Holidays. It's by the Barenaked Ladies, but honestly, I am not very impressed. Some of it is funny, and some of it is good, but most of it just is a bit strange. I hope that it improves with listening.
Anyway, I'll likely take a bath before going to bed tonight. I had a long day and I'm a bit tired. I miss my guy, even though he's only been gone a little while. He took my homepage address so I don't know if he'll check this while he's away, he might. He begged me not to write about him, but I think I can safely ignore that!
Night-night!
