July 4, 2005 - Monday

Rainy and cooler at home, cloudy but nice in Sapporo.

We had a great time this weekend. Sapporo and Hakodate were great. I hadn't really wanted to go to Hakodate, I really thought that staying in Sapporo would be better, but I have to admit that it was much more relaxing in Hakodate than it was in Sapporo.

This morning we woke up early in our hotel and went for breakfast. I wasn't feeling that well at first, but after breakfast I felt better. We checked out and then went over to the mall for a couple of hours. We looked at some parts of the mall that I'd never seen before, and they were very interesting.

Around 1 we collected our suitcases at the hotel and took a taxi to the train station. We had a fast trip so we had time for a quick visit to Starbucks. Yum. We picked up some decaf coffee to bring home with us too.

We managed to get seats on the train and Fumihiko didn't lose his ticket...on the way into Sapporo his ticket flew out of his hand and into the space between the seat and the wall. We couldn't find it.... At the airport we found out where we had to check in. The line was long, but luckily not too bad. We checked in, then got rid of our bags. We did a soupcon of shopping, then went through the gate.

The plane ride was a bit bumpy, but we survived it. When we got back to the airport we got our bags, the loaner car, and then came home. Fumihiko picked up his car while I checked email.

We tried to go out for dinner to Bistro Des Pointes, but it wasn't open tonight, so we went to La Chance. It was good except a weird thing happened. I was eating a chicken leg, holding it in my hand, when the waiter tried to take my plate. Now, excuse me, but I haven't actually finished with my food, so I'd like to have the plate to put the bone back down on. The waiter was very insistant, even though I asked him to wait a minute. I was quite annoyed and ended up throwing the bone down on my plate. I thought it was very bad manners on his part. Fumihiko of course thought it was bad manners on my part. Excuse me? If he had taken my plate what the blazes would I have done with the bone? Put it on the table? Back me up a bit dear. I deserve it.

We came home, Fumihiko arranged for my books to be delivered and then they arrived a bit later. We also watched an old, old Henry Fonda movie and then ER. It was a really good one. I enjoyed it very much.

And, that was my day. It was long, but mostly good.

Talk to you tomorrow!
