Snowy and cold day in Tsuruoka, not too bad in Sendai!

An interesting day. I went off to Sendai this morning. I asked Fumihiko to drop me off at the hotel near the bus station, so I had a nice breakfast before I left. The bus ride was a bit long as we got caught behind a snowplough, but it might be the safest place on the road, so I wasn't worried about it.

I had to sit next to an older lady on the way to Sendai. She didn't talk to me, but she left her purse hanging from a hook on the seat in front of her. Unfortunately when the bus turned a corner, it banged me in the shin. It was hard to fall asleep because of that! I surreptiously kicked her purse a few times, hoping that it would bang into her leg and she'd move it, but she didn't. Sigh. I think it didn't hit her.

In Sendai I did a lot. I went to a few dvd and cd stores and a couple of book stores. I got a bunch of books by people that I haven't heard of, and I bought only 3 dvds. And...get this, two of them are for movies I HAVEN'T seen yet! I'll fill you in as time allows.

I went to Daiei for lunch. They have a Steak Victoria that I've gone to a few times. It's reasonable and okay. On the way to the restaurant I found a new shop had moved into the building. There's now a fabric/craft store there. It had moved in from across the street. It was crowded, but it made me feel good. It's hard to explain exactly why, but the idea that all of these people are there and want to make something new or beautiful for themselves or usually loved ones is just a nice feeling. I saw a few things that I was interested in, but I didn't get any of them.

I visited a few stores along the way, but bought surprisingly little. I guess since I'm not working now and I was there just a couple of weeks ago, means that I really didn't have to buy much. I did get Fumihiko some chocolate for Valentine's Day, but you won't tell him, will you? I also got 3 boxes of crispbreads at the foreign foods store in the station. Oh, and some US microwave popcorn. They've just started to introduce it here. Now those 4 boxes weren't heavy, but they did take up a lot of room!

My last stops were to Maruzen books and Starbucks. I had a coffee and got some more ground decafe coffee. Yum. Then, I caught the bus back to Tsuruoka.

I was really lucky on the way back, I didn't have to share my seat. I listened to my iPod and couldn't sleep cause the tunes were too good! I'd updated it yesterday, but had forgotten to update my iPod podcast preferences, so all of the great Quirks and Quarks stuff didn't get transfered. I'll have to listen on my computer. Sigh.

I tried emailling Fumihiko but he didn't answer. The phone said that he couldn't receive my mails. I ended up walking home from the bus depot. It was a little cold and the snow was blowing in my face, but I enjoyed the walk. I got home a little after 10pm, and started to warm up the apartment.

Fumihiko finished his work almost as soon as I got home, and joined me a few minutes later. We had a cup of coffee and then went out to Gusto for a late dinner.

He's off taking a bath and I'm updating my iPod (with updated preferences!) and writing this.

Now, I may not update tomorrow night as depending on the weather, I may be taken away for the evening! As some of you know, it's my birthday on Sunday, so Fumihiko might surprise me with a night out. Don't wait up!!!

Night night.
