Warm but with rain in the afternoon and evening.
I went to bed very very early this morning, so when Fumihiko got up this morning, I stayed in bed. In fact, he went out to the doctor before I even woke up. I finally got up in the early afternoon. He spent some time booking a hotel for me on the net. He had to give up though because my name wasn't in kanji, and the site would only take kanji and romanji! He phoned and made the reservation for me. Hurray.
We went out and had lunch at M's Dining. It was fine. After lunch we went to the post office where I mailed off Vanessa's birthday present and something for another friend. Then, we visited a bookstore for a few minutes.
After that, it was D-day. Yep, dentist day. AHHHHHHHHHHHH. Although I didn't think there was anything wrong really, he found a cavity and started working on it today. He drilled it out (AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH) and then put in a temporary filling or something. I have to go back in two weeks to get the permanent one. He also wanted me to get my wisdom teeth taken out. I'm a bit more leery on that one. He'll do it one by one and swears that it won't be that bad, but about 15 years ago I had a dental surgeon in Edmonton say that I'd have to be off work for at least a week because I'd have severe bruising. Plus, the Edmonton guy said that he'd do all 4 at once. So, what to do? I don't know. I'm a big chicken when it comes to dentists. This guy doesn't really believe me when I say to give me extra freezing, but then when I jumped ten feet when he drilled he gave me more.
All in all, I guess it wasn't that bad of an experience, but I feel weird. I'm not dealing with a language that I understand. Hubby came with me, and the dentist would talk to him and not give him time to translate. Of course, Fumihiko comes from a culture that says "Trust your doctor/dentist and don't question him/her", I come from one that says, "What the heck are you doing to me?" when the doctor/dentist even asks you to open your mouth!
When we left the dental clinic we went to a new store that just opened near us. It's a bulk foods store. It's a bit like a small Costco I guess. They don't have a huge selection of foods, but some stuff was interesting. I picked up some frozen eggplant, mushrooms and some pork, Fumihiko got some curry and nan. They had other things that I might buy if we empty out our freezer.
We hit a drug store after bringing home our frozen stuff. I picked up some cute socks for a certain young lady in my life. They change colour with heat. I'm not sure how long that will last, but it's a neat feature!
By now it was after 8 pm and my tooth freezing was starting to wear off. I suggested going for a meal, and Fumihiko suggested a restaurant owned by his co-workers family. I said it was okay. It's a fish restaurant, which I thought was a good idea. I wasn't really ready for "hard" food, and fish usually isn't. We went and had a great meal of aji. We had tatake aji, cooked aji and even aji bones deep fried. I was very careful with that one! We finished up with some miso soup. It was all very nice.
We came home and had coffee and watched ER. It was a repeat of course, the one with Ray Liotta as a dying man. It was quite sad, and as always, well done.
And that's about it. My tooth is hurting quite a bit now. I've taken a couple of painkillers but it's not helping that much. I sure hope that it doesn't get worse.
Got to go! Night night.
