Sunny and warm, gorgeous.
Well, I stayed up quite late last night and then I went to bed. I slept in very, very late this morning. But, I'm worth it!
I putzed around the apartment today. I cooked a late brunch and then I watched a dvd that I'd bought yonks ago, A Mighty Wind. It was a bit like This is Spinal Tap, but about folk music. It was pretty funny. Most of the cast of This is Spinal Tap were in A Mighty Wind, plus two SCTV alumnai, Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara. I enjoyed the movie. I think I was right not to wait for Fumihiko to see it. I don't think it was the kind of thing he'd enjoy.
After doing the dishes, I decided to take the dvd back to the store. It was nice out, so I just slipped on my sandals and went to the store. Then, I checked out the clothing store nearby. I saw some nice stuff, but I wasn't sure about sizes. A couple of years ago I had bought my niece a Chinese-style dress which she loves. But, I'm thinking she'll grow out of it soon. I saw an adult one today and I was wondering if I should get it for her. I decided not to as she's still quite young and she wouldn't be able to wear it for a while. It was gorgeous though. Scarlet with gold and white chrysanthemums on it. Beautiful. If they'd had it in a small, or even a medium I would have got it, but it was a large. She's only nine! Japanese sizes are skewed small, but not that small.
I walked home, sat down at my computer for a while and then Fumihiko arrived. He'd driven all the way back from Sendai with only one stop. And the silly guy hadn't eaten.
We went out, first to get his new battery for his cellphone, but just before the cellphone office he realized that he didn't have his cellphone! We had to turn around and get it. We got it, and then came back. Fumihiko got his cell phone and also asked if they had any old cellphones or dummies that they would give away. Why? For my school! Sometimes we have to "make telephone calls" and it's much more fun to have real phones to use. The phones were dummies and are very cool. One has a swivel screen. I wish it was real! And mine.
After picking up the battery we went to a drugstore. I have a sore throat. The last few mornings I've woken up with a sore throat, but it usually goes away. Today it didn't. I wanted to get some throat medicine. We got that, then went for dinner.
Our first choice was Coco's but it was really busy. We decided to leave. As we were going back to the car, I heard someone call my name. It was the mother of one of my ex-students. We chatted for a while and I gave her my business card. I don't think my ex-student will come back, but he has a younger sibling who mightwant lessons!
We ended up at M's Dining to have dinner. It was busy too, but we got a seat right away. We both had the same thing. (Funny how hubby tells me how stressful my diet is for him, when we order the same dish!) It was quite nice.
We came home via the grocery store and in the store, hubby told me he doesn't have to work again tomorrow. Last week he'd told me that he had to work on Monday so I'm a tad ticked off. I had asked him about me joining him in Sendai today, (I'd go by bus) and then us staying somewhere overnight and driving back on Monday. We couldn't because he said he had to work.
Anyway, at home we just vegged for a while. He put on one of our unwatched Ally McBeal Dvds and we watched 3/4 of it. It was okay. I liked the writing but hated Ally's insecurities.
Hubby went to bed, thinking he wouldn't be able to sleep, but I tell you that he is sleeping now. I'm glad as he couldn't sleep well last night.
Wow! I thought this would be a short entry, but it isn't. Hope I haven't lost anyone along the way. I've got to go....Night.
