Rainy/snowy but it didn't stay. Yay.

A good day. I woke up when my alarm went off and sprang out of bed. I was rather surprised with myself as I was tired and had planned to go back to bed. However, I stayed up and did some work on my new sweatpants. A couple of weeks ago I got a sweatsuit. I like it, but the waistband is very tight. I planned to take out the elastic and either replace it or just use the drawstrings. I unpicked one of the side seams in the waistband and discovered that the elastic is sewn to the waistband all the way around the pants. The waist is very uncomfortable. I cut the elastic at that point and at another seam that I unpicked. It helps, but it isn't terrific yet. I don't have a sewing machine and the sweatpants aren't expensive enough for me to have them fixed so I guess I'll just make more slits in the elastic and hope that in time they'll give more.

I had a bit of a lazy morning at home. I did some net stuff, and then looked for my cookbook. I finally found it, under a mound of other books. I wanted to make an easy pot roast in my slow cooker. I found the recipe and did a bit of improvising. I was supposed to use tomato sauce for the recipe, but I didn't have any. I used canned diced tomatoes and they worked just fine after I had run them through my blender. I didn't put as much Splenda in as I prefer not to have sweet food, and I put in extra dry mustard to make it tangier. I set the cooker and forgot about it. My kind of cooking!

I ate a later than it should be lunch and watched some Friends today. I've been watching a lot of Corner Gas lately, but I've only got a couple more seasons of Friends to get through. I've been watching it for a year! I really enjoy it.

Oh yes, there was a Burt Lancaster/Tony Curtis movie on this afternoon, Trapeze. It was quite cool. I remember my Mum telling me about it and how Burt Lancaster had been a circus performer in his youth. The movie wasn't bad, and the stunts were interesting.

I went off to work by bicycle. I was a little nervous because there was a layer of slush on the ground. Would it freeze hard? I got to the school and set up for the day. My first student called to cancel so I had some extra time. I prepared for the second student and when she came we had a good class. After class I texted hubby and then when I didn't get an answer prepared to bike home. I was putting my bike lock in my pocket when my bike tipped over and crashed to the ground. My light flew apart and the batteries went rolling all over. I picked them up and my phone rang! Fumihiko was home and had just found my text. He came and picked me up. That was nice of him. I was glad because I couldn't get my light to work properly.

We came home and I got ready to serve dinner. I made tea and Fumihiko prepared the salad for us. I took the roast out of the slow cooker and thickened the gravy. I cut the meat (badly) and then served it. Dinner was good. We both had seconds on the meat and then for dessert we had frozen raspberries with yogurt and a touch of chocolate syrup. Tonight's dinner was pretty low carb, except for the raspberries, and even they aren't that bad.

Fumihiko did most of the dishes and then I did the rest. (My teapot and my slow cooker). The rest of the evening we spent with our computers. I think he loaded anti-virus software onto his computer.

That's about it for my day. I had a good one! Tomorrow I have one class in the afternoon. I might even be able to come home before dark. Ya hoo!

Night night.
