Rainy.
Today was a pretty good day actually. I got up almost on time, showered, and checked the internet while I watched today's The 4400. It was quite a cool episode. It had "The Borg Queen" (Alice Krige) in it as one of the guests, which only added to the mystery.
Fumihiko arrived home before 11 and we went to Gusto to have brunch. I had chicken as usual. I like it there. We had a nice meal and then Fumihiko dropped me off at my school.
I'd set most things up last night before I left so there wasn't too much to do. I set up the coffeepot, changed, did a quick runover the floor with my sweeper thing and got ready to meet my student.
Both classes went well today. There's such a difference in last night's class and this afternoon's class. Same text, even same lesson, but today's student just "gets" it and got it so fast that we had time to do a phonics worksheet AND play a game. If the Friday night student only knew that if he behaved well, we could move on to more enjoyable things, it would be so nice. My second class, at an earlier time now went well too. Today's lesson built on stuff that they haven't studied in my school, but they did study before at le Eikaiwa so they weren't lost. We talked about food for the class. They are fun kids.
Fumihiko was going to pick me up after class, but we decided that since I was fine where I was, he should just go and walk his dog first. I had dishes to wash, and a Dick Francis to read, so really, I didn't mind not leaving my school right away. I even set up for Tuesday's first class a bit. Yay me.
When he did come and get me, we came home to make a brief pitstop, then headed out again to go fishing. Yep, first time this year. The weather was threatening rain, and there was a drop or two, but nothing serious. We went to Kamo bay. Fumihiko set up my fishing rod for me (yay) but when he gave it to me I asked him if he was sure it was mine. It looked different than it did last year. He told me that it was different. He'd broken mine, and replaced it. Honestly, that made me very sad. He'd given me that fishing rod for White Day (a bit like Valentine's day for those non-Japan living folks out there) and I really loved it. Still, I didn't want to ruin the evening, and he'd done his best to replace it, so there was no point in getting angry. I threw my hook into the water, and almost immediately caught a fish! It was an ainame...and a decent sized one. Fumihiko had to break the line as he couldn't get the hook out of the fish. I just hope we remember that when we're eating it. Yikes. He caught a small ainame later on. I caught another one too, but it was really small, so we threw it back. After about an hour it was getting windier and the fish weren't really biting. Fumihiko decided to pack up. I was a bit cold so didn't disagree. We stopped at a public washroom to wash our hands, and just as we did that the downpour started. We stopped fishing just in time.
We came back to Tsuruoka, where we washed hands again with soap. Fumihiko took care of the fish (I don't know what that means actually!) and then we went out for dinner. We went to the tonkatsu restaurant where we had tonkatsu. I ordered some fried chicken to begin because I was starving. I hadn't eaten for a long time and that's not good. We had a great meal and left.
We drove to the mall. We were planning to see a movie. I was torn between An Inconvienent Truth and The Reaping. When we got to the mall, we had coffee in the shop, then headed upstairs. We decided to see The Reaping tonight, and maybe try to see the other film tomorrow afternoon. We made the wrong decision as The Reaping wasn't that good.
When we came back to Tsuruoka, we had coffee in Mosburgers....correction, I had coffee, Fumihiko had a vanilla shake. Now honestly, I've never understood the reasoning behind having a vanilla shake. To me, it's too much like having a plain milk shake. I suppose it's okay if the vanilla is strong.
We came home and spent a companionable evening together. Me on my computer, hubby on the couch reading a book. He's gone off to bed now and I should probably join him because I'm quite tired. Today I had a mini-relapse.The pain in my side seemed worse and I just felt tired and a little under the weather. I'm feeling better now, but I'm going to try to take things easy for the next couple of days that I'm off work.
That was my day. I should run off to bed. Night night!
