Sunny and warm. Nice day.
Well, today was good. I got up at a reasonable time mostly, and took my shower. Then I spent a lot of time on my computer and drinking coffee. Fumihiko had made coffee this morning rather than setting it up last night so it was ready for me when I got up. It was good too. He'd gotten some stuff at the grocery store, but it wasn't bad. Did have caffeine in it though.
I opened a curtain and by the light that came in I managed to sew my nightie. The strap had come away from the dress. It was a simple repair, I wonder why I decided that I'd better just chuck the thing. It's a really cute little nightie. Anyway, the repair isn't perfect, but it's not bad, so that's a good thing.
Around 2:00 I went out to the post office to mail a birthday card to my friend in Canada. She's moving to a new house soon, so it'll be my first mail to her new address. I didn't bother getting dressed up so I probably scandalized the neighbours. Ha ha ha. I wore my sandals without socks, sweatpants that don't go all the way down, and a t-shirt. It was comfy and cool, that's all I can say.
I came home and made my brunch. I had leftovers from dinner the other night. I had my usual omelette, with cheese, sour cream and mild taco sauce. It wasn't bad at all. I also had tortillas with tomato and mayo. Yum.
Just before 4 I headed off to my school. It was quite hot when I got there, about 31 degrees. Yikes. I ran the air conditioner and the fan in the lobby to get the air moving, and it soon became bearable. My student came at 5 with her grandmother and the student and I had a great time. She's a really nice little girl. She's well behaved and learns quickly. She's also got a pretty good sense of humour, so we laugh a lot. I was glad that she was able to come tonight instead of missing tomorrow's class.
In my hour break between classes I started a novel (reading, not writing!), made some mint tea for cooling, and prepped classes for tomorrow and Tuesday. Wow. Sounds like I was busy. Well, I was a little. My other student arrived right on time and we had a great lesson too. She's an amazing person. She works full-time in her husband's company, and she's going to University full time as well. She hadn't come for a few weeks because of the O-bon holiday and the fireworks in Tsuruoka a few weeks ago.
After my last student left, I did up my paperwork and then did the dishes. I called Fumihiko and asked him to come and get me, which he did. We hadn't planned anything for dinner for tonight, so he suggested a tonkatsu restaurant. The one he suggested was not the one we often go to, but a smaller, more hole in the wall type of place. I wasn't sure it would still be open, but it was. It was great. We had roast-tonkatsu with cabbage, miso soup and pickles. Fumihiko had rice too, but I didn't. One nice thing was the cook gave us lots of mustard. I really like the combo of tonkatsu sauce with hot mustard, so it was a treat to still have mustard left at the end of the meal.
We came home via the grocery store to get a few things. Fumihiko bought beer and I snagged a bottle of oolong tea. We looked for bagels, but for some reason they'd already packaged them up with other things. We'd have had to buy 6 baked things just to get our two bagels. Hubby is under strict orders to pick some up tomorrow.
And that's it. We came home and spent a lot of time on our respective computers. Hubby had a couple of the aforementioned beers and is snoozing on the couch now. He's on his weekend. I've only got one more class and then a dentist appointment tomorrow. One more cavity to fill, then hopefully I'll be done for a while. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Oh, I changed the design a little again. I've put past entries in a table below this. If it looks strange on your browser, would you mind letting me know? It looks okay for me in Safari, but I know not everyone uses Safari.
Gotta go. Night night!
