This picture was taken after all the rain in our foothills the spring of 1998.
This picture is the lupine that grows so well in our area. It lights up the hills sides and along some of the hi way, it is native to this area.
This picture of the Dragon an oak tree on Hi way 41 leading into the foothills near Yosemite National Park has been a site to behold since it was struck by lightening years ago.
If the winter of 1997 - 1998 was wet, then the winter of 1998 -1999 was the coldest we have experienced. Our normal 4 cords of wood didn't last us even half the season and in June we have already more rain in the first week, than is normal for any month of June and have had a lowest high temperature for the month of June. We personally lost a lot of cactus and other plants, we were fortunate in that we lost no trees. But a big bull pine, oak and eucalyptus trees came down in our neighbors yard. None showed signs of falling before it happened.
Spring - 2000 and the grand old oak is starting to bud, the mistletoe is heavy on it, and should be trimmed out, but then that's not what mother nature does.
